Cubs could break a new curse in 2011

For years, Chicago Cubdom has heard about the 1945 Curse of the Billy Goat. What fans don’t know is that the Billy Goat curse was lifted long ago.

But another one surfaced in 2006: The Curse of Luis Montanez...

I don't think this is any curse or that a 5th OF is going to be a huge difference. Just give it to Reed. :)

No, the Billy Goat "Curse" wasn't lifted. Sianis said that the Cubs had to show a fondness and caring for goats, and not just for publicity, to break the curse. Pretty ridiculous, right?

I'm sure this article was written in a half-joking manner, but, it was a good read. Well written and very informative. It's not every day you get to read about the return of Luis Montanez. lol

That said, i doubt he makes the squad. I think Perez will take the 5th OF spot because of his speed and glove.

Johnson has speed and a better glove though.

Has? Or had?

I don't know, i didn't see him much play with the Dodgers and he is 34 years old now. If he does, and it shows in Mesa, Arizona, then i'd take Johnson over Perez for sure, for those reasons i mentioned.

He still has that glove, he was still on Top 10 Plays quite a bit last year.

The plays I saw every time were amazing, what is his UZR/150?

I never said that his plays weren't amazing. If Jermaine Dye makes a top ten play every day, does that make him a great defender? Not at all.

Reed had a 34.1 in 2010, better than his 09 season and career averages.
