The Cubs have reached out to Andrew Friedman, the Rays executive VP of baseball operations, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com (on Twitter). It's hard to imagine Friedman entertaining the idea of joining the Cubs with his club so close to the playoffs.

I thought that was tampering.

I don't see why Friedman would want to leave the Rays to come to this mess.

The opportunity to spend more than 40 million dollars? The opportunity to be the savior of Chicago. A new challenge. Money. There are several reasons, actually.

Valid points, its hard for me to see him leaving Tampa after what he built this season.

to become a legend if he just wins 1 here. Winning one with the Rays does nothing for his legacy. Do you think Theo would be a legend if he one his 2 WS were with the Rays and not the Soxs? I dont think so. The better question is why he wouldn't want to come and be the one who breaks the streak. If he won one he would never have to buy dinner ever again in Chicago. O and did I mention another 60+ million to spend.

I dont think we can expect much from our next GM until Fonso is off the books. We need to be patient with whoever we get hopefully Friedman is the guy though.
