The Cubs are reportedly keeping tabs with 2B Olando Hudson, according to MLB Daily Dish.

Thoughts? He wouldn't be a bad signing, but only for a reasonable price.

Orlando Hudson > Mark Grudzielanek, Aaron Miles, Darwin Barney, Mike Fontenot, or any other player to play 2B since Sandberg left.

Not a bad acquisition, if he agrees to come here.

To be honest, I wouldn't be too hurt by a lineup of:

1. Castro - SS
2. Byrd - CF
3. Pena - 1B (assuming he signs)
4. Ramirez - 3B
5. Soriano - LF
6. Colvin - RF
7. Soto - C
8. Hudson - 2B
9. Pitcher

That lineup has a lot of solid OBP slots balanced with decent RBI potential throughout. Hudson at his best gives you essentially another Marlon Byrd (OBP and BA wise, not so much in the power categories).

Pena AND Hudson would be a pipe dream, but anything beat DLee at this point. .265 isn't going to cut it.

^^^^Pena and Hudson is possible, with a RP. I think SP is fine. But they will have to trade Kosuke.

Well.. this is turning to be the usual..

"Cubs interested in everyone in the free agent market"

Not really. It's actually less than usual. The Cubs have had interest in Hudson, for like ever. Will they actually sign him this time?? Probably not because they can never.

Id say the whole thing, Dunn (supposedly), Webb, Vazquez, Crain, Hudson, Bonderman, Harang, Pavano...

etc

thats quite a few names thrown out there

Out of all those, Webb and Hudson have been the most talked about. The pitchers...the Cubs want a cheap vet pitcher and all those names were mentioned. They were never serious about Vaquez or Garland. Too many teams are after Crain and that won't be serious.

Other than dunn, which is pretty much over with....the rest of the names are ehhhh at best. anyone of those signings besides dunn wouldnt be a FA splash by any means.

They have been interested in him for quite a while, and I doubt they sign him this time. He's way too injury prone for my liking.

IK he's better, but 2B isn't the biggest hole we need to fill.

Would rathar Hendry looked into Alexi Casilla from the Twins, cheaper, younger and could bat lead off.

The biggest needs are, 1B, RP, 2B and SP...in that order.

I have SP last because I want the kids to get a chance.

Pena, Wood, Hudson, Webb,

Those are the most likely fillers IMO. But I don't see us getting any new 2B.

I like jose lopez for second or get stephen drew and move castro to second now or just switch drew to second. hudson for would be a last option signing but still would be a upgrade over dewitt

BA and RBI are literally the worst stats ever. They suck so much penis, they make Jenna Jameson look ***.

Just a general thought, why do you guys think we NEED a RP? We have tons of pitching depth in the minors.

Ya, i don't think we need one either. Only if we move Cashner to the rotation, because then we'll need a new Right-handed Set-Up Man. Which is why I want Wood.
