The Cubs and Rangers were scheduled for a meeting to talk players and one guy the Cubs like is Chris Davis. He won't cost much on a down year. Texas needs catching and either Castillo or Chirios can go over in a trade, Davis did have a down year last year, but he still has potential. He's a lefty, 15-25 hr hitter, middle of the order bat and a abover average defender.

Thoughts? I would be fine with this trade, but it still depends on the cost. I think he wil excel at Wrigley. Also, he's cheap and the Cubs can look at other needs, to try and make the team contend.

Chirios? lol. I'd be fine with a trade.

From the sound of it, it could be a C for Davis, straight up.

That'd be a one-sided trade favoring the Cubs. As long as they don't want Soto. But what if they trade Castillo and Chirinos isn't ready? Think about who'd be coming back then. gulp.

I was thinking Hill. Just because they haven't gotten rid of him yet and there is no way Chirinos is MLB ready IMO.

I saw somewhere the Cubs could be ready to part with Hill.

IK, they better anyway. I'd part with Chirinos and Brenly. Maybe Castillo instead if Chirinos is ready.

He would be the back up catcher... who cares if he isn't ML ready? He's the back up.

1) the starting catcher doesnt play 162

2) if your starting catcher goes down for the year you would have a what you consider non-mlb ready catcher starting.

doesnt make any sense at all.

Would you rather have Koyie Hill? If Geo goes down for a long period of time, you can always sign a FA, if the backup is doing that bad.

He's a AAAA player who strikes out at a Mark Reynolds pace. But for a backup catcher I guess I could live w/ him for a season
