Oh yeah me too. But I think this could be a good move for the Cubs for numerous reasons like I stated.

i think it's too soon to say definitively that we should resign him. as of now, i'd say we should get what we can for him before the trade deadline and work out the first basemen predicament during the off season. but, i guess if he finishes the rest of the season strong, i'd consider resigning him to a one year, with an option for the second, just in case it doesn't pay off. lee's getting old, and as much as i agree that he should retire as a cub, we have to do what's in the best interest of the ball club.

I agree with you but who do you think wopuld be 1B if he left? I know the Cubs wont to get younger and I do too but if there someone to take his spot right away.

unless we trade for someone, i'd say hoffpauir if vitters doesn't make the transition. i mean he's no gold-glover and he's probably a bit of a defensive liability, but at this point, i have no idea. lol.

I think that would be the logical order of occurrence...Lee, Hoffpauier, Vitters.

Few days ago I'd call you a dumbass for this, now for me, there are just a few factors:
a) he hits well the remainder of this season
b) we haven't rebuilt
c) he takes a 1 or 2 year deal, not several year
d) asks for less than Pena

And if he left, Muskat actually suggested Colvin as a POSSIBILITY

I don't think they should but w/ no really good options in the minors I could see them resigning him. Or they could sign Branyan to a cheap 1 year deal and wait for the great 2012 FA 1st baseman (Pujols, A-Gon)

Pujols and A-Gon would probably be given contract extensions.

I'm not sure if the Cardinals can afford Pujols likely enormous deal and I know that the Padres can't. A-Gon wants Mark Teixeira money
