Strong move. It's a minors deal so they can try before they buy a bit. If nothing else they can throw money at a potential solution rather than trading away something. Doubt Soriano is as good as he was in the past but it's always nice to have options.

Great pickup. Bullpen could really become a strong suit again if Soriano works out and Ramirez returns soon from injury

Who would be the 2 odd men out when these guys are ready?

Hopefully Jackson can be dumped somehow, even if it was just a buyout. Would suck but so does Jackson

I'd really like to see them figure something out with Jackson. To an extent I hope if the cubs make a trade for a starter they find some way to package him with a bunch of money to clear the space. It makes some sense for the team trading away a guy because he obviously can eat innings and if you're trading away at the deadline who cares what you're putting out there. He's also not a terrible buy extremely low guy. He's only 31 and has pitched better than his numbers in the past. If you could buy him down to say $6 mil between the next two years(eg cubs eat $16 mil-ish of the $22 mil he had between the two years) he'd be a decent guy i think.

Mottes the other guy to me that seems like an obvious move. He has money tied to him so perhaps you just send Rosscup down.

Smart Move. Now they just need some young hitters who aren't going to be stuck career .250.

There are a few here.

I wish we would give Brian Wilson a try. I've liked him back with the Giants, he was a beast. Plus the dude is hilarious.

If they can get him back to early 2014 form he takes over at closer. If he is still that 2nd half guy I hope he never gets on the team. OK move. I've seen too many of these high risk moves not pan out to put faith on the few that do.
