Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Jassen Cullimore was assigned to Rockford of the AHL on Thursday.

By Jesse Rogers

Cullimore, 38, played in 36 games for the Blackhawks, recording eight assists.

The move makes way for the Blackhawks to recall former first-round pick Nick Leddy. Coach Joel Quenneville and general manager Stan Bowman intimated that Leddy could be recalled as soon as Friday.

Leddy played in six games for the Blackhawks earlier in the season, and he won bronze for Team USA in the recently completed World Junior Championships.

Hopefully an upcoming trade for a quality number five is in the offing.

Leddy/Boynton or Leddy/Hendry is as scary as Ladyhawk's drivers license photo.

That last part could be very incriminating. Under what condition would you have seen her license?

Interesting, as I said in the Bolland thread, why in the world is Cullimore sent down over Boynton (who isn't even playing???) or Hendry, who makes more money than he does?

I doubt this really is the difference between making the playoffs or not but really? How much more clueless can this front office be?

Must be a matter of clearing waivers, but even then who cares if Hendry or Boynton were to leave in that manner? Whoever picked them up would be doing us a favor.

I believe the front office is feathering the nest for a trade.

DiDomenico was sent from Rockford to Toledo, so maybe all this activity mean something else is a-brewin'.

Let's hope so, this is strange to me, the money is essentially a wash because they are all around 100k from each other, and I essentially feel like it's hendry=boynton=cullimore, But at the same time I would say cullimore has played the best in that he's been less noticed out there. But Leddy is double the others, and will take a nice chunk of the remaining space. So, like you say I hope that Leddy is playing well enough down there to force his way to the roster with the recent D troubles, and they are working there way up for a trade. Hopefully Leddy is the answer on D and the trade is for a center.

Boynton has a one way contract where as Cullimore is two way. Boynton would make 500k in the A, while Cullimore makes 105k.

Thus Cullimore was sent down.

So it's basically the Hawks being fucking cheap, with money that doesn't even hit the cap? Cool. I guess that 5.6 they're paying Huet to play in Switzerland is bothering Rocky after all.

Boynton should just be waived. It's not like anyone is going to pick him up, and you're paying him to sit in the press box the rest of the season either way...

Who the **** gave Boynton a 1 way contract?

Does this club think anymore before it inks players?

One way contracts don't go to players like Boynton. Jesus fucking christ!!! Hawks have cap and some money issues thanks to the Huet shit and it feels its right to give 1 way contracts to #6 blueliners who no one else would bother with? Really? Did Boyntons agent have the strong hand in the negotiations? And why?

Hope Leddy does come up though about fucking time he got another call up. Feel bad for Culli thats a raw deal. I'm no Culli fan but I am not stupid enough to think he has been that bad. UGH Boynton a 1 way contract..fucking bush league.

I think most would agree Cullimore has been our most consistant 3rd pairing Dman which makes this move puzzling to me. Which raises the question is there a trade brewing?
