Three games in, I think things are pretty clear with Caleb Williams for those who can think objectively.

*The talent is undeniable. He has a strong arm, and when his feet are set, he delivers strikes time after time.

*He has happy feet and takes wayyyyy too longgggg to throw. One, two, three, release. Not doing himself any favors.

*His strength is finding his guy in tight windows up the middle. This is extremely encouraging.

*He’s still struggling A LOT on deep balls. Needs to settle down, set his trunk, calm down, and deliver.

*Needs to stop trying to do too much. It’s ok to throw the ball away. It’s ok to not run 10 yards backwards.

Lots of room to improve, but guys, I’m seeing it.

Most yards in a game by a Bears QB in over 5,400 days (15 years).

Call it prevent. Call it garbage time. Call it a bad D. But it’s not nothing. The Bears have seen plenty of those things over the past 15 years and haven’t seen a QB hit 360 yards.

It’s not everything. He needs to play better. But it’s also not nothing.

He was better today for sure. I agree with your criticisms and your praise.

- Hopefully the team continues to use Kmet more.

- Unbelievable work from Rome Odunze today, excellent game from him. He's a weapon and it's good to have him.

- Defense was good overall today but they started breaking when it was bunk possession after bunk possession from the offense.

- Poor coaching across the board. That only puts more on Caleb and makes it harder on him, obviously.

- Oline was better today, but they need to continue to improve because today wasn't good enough either.

- The running game NEEDS to get going to at least some extent, and first step there is to put Roschon back there more.

He finished the game in a rhythm, despite his coaches. Once he got that first TD out of the way, you could see him starting to gain confidence.

This is an awful loss, though. Bears D got gashed against the run for the 2nd time this season. Redzone offense is abysmal with Waldron. No excuses for failing to punch it in on the 1 yard line with 4 absolutely pathetic plays.

Next game becomes a must win. This was the beginning of the "softer" portion of their schedule and they blew a very winnable game against another bad team.

The problem is the Bears are considered the softer part of other teams' schedules.

He's getting better.

And for those that want to whine about turnovers, one hit his WR in the hands, and the other one a TE whiffed on a block versus an edge rusher. They're still turnovers, and they still go against Caleb and cost the team. But not every turnover is equal. Everyone should know that by now.

It's not a bad breakdown. I do agree with just about all of it.

The good news is the Bears have two series where they can go back and review what they did right in order to find an establish an offensive identity.

They need to go back to those two series and build out the offense from there.

I would also have the Kyle Orton handcuffs on Caleb Williams this season. Short and immediate passes only for the most part.

And then in the off season heavily invest in the offensive line and you could take the handcuffs off for year two. We just don't have the protection to support him going deep.

I would also probably fire the offensive line coach and replace him in the off-season.

All i know is its everyone elses fault that they lost to a team they realistically should have beat and those 3 turnovers and 4 sacks had absolutely nothing to do with the loss and every single passing yard was legit!

If Williams averages 300 yards, the Bears will win a lot of games over the coming years. We’ll see what happens. No one is disputing that he needs to play better.
I never said he needed to play better in this thread. I simply came here to celebrate and show support for a 300 yard passing game

Let’s pop a bottle…we joining the modern day footbawl game!!

Sometimes it feels like Caleb is playing at a more advanced level than his receivers. He is trying to throw with anticipation to where the receiver is going to be. The problem is that too often there's miscommunication, and the receiver isn't there. There seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding between the qb and receivers as to how these plays are supposed to be ran.

When there’s a clear miscommunication on the very first passing play of the game, that’s a problem.

I have no idea who’s to blame. The rookie QB? The rookie receiver? The OC? All 3?

The good news is that most of these miscues seem to be from fixable things and not from a lack of talent, ability, or processing.

CW worse by one turnover when protecting the rock is most important! That’s not progress

He is making progress from week 1. He still has a ton of progress to go before he's even an average NFL starter. There will be football seasons after this one, there is still a ton of time left on the clock.

They have two #1 WRs out on the field already. Maybe the generational QB should be better when it matters.
It was his third NFL start. He had some excellent throws today. He’s only going to get better. You don’t like him? I don’t get it.

That's a terrible idea and the way you ruin quarterbacks. Fearfully engineering out a portion of a player's game for whatever reason - in this case because the offensive line is a joke - is how the Bears have fatally damaged quarterbacks in the past, MJ.

I have similar thoughts about the offensive line coach. One more performance without significant improvement and it's time for him to go. There has to be accountability, and since Eberfvvk isn't going to be held to it, someone needs to be. Considering the disorganization of his unit, he's a suitable target . . .

Nope, defender’s hand hit the ball to the double covered back!
