I'm excited about Paulie, Danks and seeing if Dunn/Rios can bounce back as well as Beckham getting on track possibly.

All of that could get shot to hell, but I'm hoping for the best.

I'm excited about Viciedo, De Aza, and seeing Sale, hopefully, in a SP role.

I'm excited to see Beckham possibly finally emerge now that the hitting coach isn't a bum.

Also excited for De Aza and Sale. Ready for Danks to be the ace.

Viciedo's original contract might be up, but he still needs 6 years of major league service time before he becomes a free agent.

Is that right? I was under the impression that it was only true for drafted players

Nope applies to everyone. What gets confusing is some Japanese imports have had it written into their contracts that a team can't offer them arbitration (Fukudome and Matsui being two examples). That is the only thing I can think of that shortens a team's control below 6 full years of major league service time.

Though he could just walk out of the majors whenever he wishes but I think he's found life in America is a step up

I'm thinking Morel, Beckham, Rios, and Dunn will be the ones that improve thanks to a new hitting coach.

There's no reason that Dunn is good all his career until he gets here. Or that Swisher is good, comes to Chicago and stinks it up, then goes to New York and becomes MVP caliber.

exactly. KW is being crucified for signing him, but if he was dealt and succeeded KW would be crucified for dealing him. the same thing happened with swisher. we needed an OBP guy, he and ozzie had issues, we sell him off for shit and he is better. id like to see dunn with ventura and a new hitting coach.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Toledo Rockets
The Dunn deal can still very possibly be a good deal in the long run. And even if it ends up being a bust, at the time it was a good signing, no signs of his decline. I can deal with contracts not working if they make sense at the time of the signing, i.e. the Dunn signing, or the Jason Bay signing in New York to name a few.

With a new hitting coach coming in and Dunn playing out in the field more this year, I'm hoping that does the trick for him...and Beckham as well. The Sox need them to step up and produce to have any shot at a good year.
