Took this mature buck opening day early afternoon. Turned out to be an expensive prick as I drove my 4- wheeler into my back windshield on my 2011 Silverado.

To lazy to put blocks in the front of the bed, so I got what I deserved.

2 weeks and off to the elk hunt on the CRST reservation.

What's the difference between beer nuts and deer nuts?

Beer nuts are over a dollar......

And deer nuts are under a buck.

Thanks... It should be cold enough to take it home whole if I can get it loaded on the truck.

This was an IL deer from Schuyler County, did not get the weight because the processing place was to busy.

The rack scored around 145 , decent not great , but to good to pass on.

You are looking good too Buddy! Tell the munchkin I said hello. She's had a rough month or so!

Thanks. The area I hunt is in Huntsville! I bowhunted the past 5 weekends and saw at least 20 bucks during an average weekend including a big old boy which would have scored 180 or more, when I put my binos on him I almost fell out of the stand, but he was 200 yds out and never got closer. Saw at least 4 deer bigger than the one I took while bowhunting. During Gun opener I had a very nice 4 x4 at 40 yds but let him pass. The buck I took was across a creek heading up a ridge away from me, but I grunted him in to 90 yds where I decided he was a shooter. He was the 13 th deer I saw that morning.

Where do you stay? Last 8 years I have been at The Green Gable Motel in Rushville. ( approx 20 miles from the hunting land )

So RK, you know about Ashley's kidney stone ordeal? That really sucked, and went on for several weeks.

We stay in a house about 2 miles from huntsville our farmer we lease from owns it. across a creek huh ? how long have you been hunting huntsville we used to have a lease, I guess you would say downtown huntsville with the creek at the bottom . Huntsville is where its at for sure . I drove past green gables 3 times yesterday 17 miles or so each wayto buy a radio to listen to the hawks game , forgot my wallet one time went back bought one didn't work, returned it then went to beardstown , I gave up couldn't get 720 to come in at all . oh and can you believe browns restaurant is gone and now a Mexican restaurant ? I stayed at crossroads motel a few times over the last 10 -12 years what a dump it is. How is greengables? I seen a guy from Ohio at the Thornton in Havana was hunting 5 miles from macomb for 2 weeks had a absolute monster 17 point and the base of each rack had to be as thick as a coke can. What a beast . Are you going back in 2 weeks ? We are can't wait hope we see them . Anyway small world we might know some of the same people in the area sorry for my typing I'm on my Android

I use a sleepingbag at Green Gables, but the owners are nice and they reserve my room every year. I won't be going down 2nd season because I have that elk hunt in SD that week. I might bowhunt Dec 18 and 19th and pull my gun stands. In the cold weather I have had a string of deer pass by me herded up with the big boys at the back of the pack. About 5 years ago I shot a doe 2nd season and my gun jammed, shell was caught and would not eject, naturally a real big boy 180 class or better was right there begging to be shot. I usually get my deisel fuel at the BP in Havana.
