deng’s solid all-around game is well-established at this point, but his defense is still being underappreciated. According to John Schuhmann and Steve Aschburner of NBA.com, Deng is part of the league’s best five-man defensive unit along with Omer Asik, Taj Gibson, Ronnie Brewer and C.J. Watson (74.5 points allowed per 100 possessions, based on 96 minutes). I expect this will be the first of Deng’s seven seasons where he will be named to one of the All-Defensive Teams.

I love deng. I think he's a great 3rd option. Initially i though he was a terrible 3rd option, because deng doesn't have the ability to get his own shot. To some extent he's proved me wrong by taking the ball to the hoop strongly, and by scoring 17-18 ppg by smart basketball. On top of that i think deng's a great defensive player. I always hate playing 2k11 where deng's defensive abilities are negligible. On the other hand, do you think Deng should be on a defensive team this year? He's our strongest perimeter defender on our starting line up, but i just feel as if there's some1 more deserving.

The entire NBA All-defensive 2nd team could be Bulls' players. But the Bulls don't have 2 wing defenders better than Shane Battier and Thabo Sefolosha. Nor do they have a Dwight Howard or Kevin Garnett or Chris Paul to defend the point.

hmmm Deng and Battier...hmmm.....both great defensive wings...hmmmm....but it seems like they have something else in common...something....that maybe that was the base of their defensive prowess?

Yeah, when I think of Duke players, I think of great rebounders/defenders and half-court offensive players.

back to the point...Deng is a helluva defender...and has proven it all season...other teams SFs haven't had outstanding games against us, and his D late in games has won us several games, imo.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bulls
The way Deng was playing offensively this season has been fair with some good streaks mixed in, but his individual defense hasn't really shown until 20 games ago. I think if he can play with this recent level of confidence for an entire healthy season, he will make some All-NBA teams.

Funny, when I think of Dook players, I think of great college players who get injured a lot in the pro's and never live up to their hype.

yeah, i got this from teh tbj rankings. I'm not going to lie. i think scott carefoot is an idiot. His argument for howard's mvp race is that Deng would be the 2nd best player on the magic. Are you high scott? Deng, the guy who can't get his own shot, shoots a mediocre 3pt would be fucked playing with nelson and howard. Nelson doesn't have great pg vision, and howard doesn't know how to pass. Deng's offense would suffer to the nth degree.

More importantly, In terms of pure talent, is deng really more talented than any other member of the magic? He's not better than howard. Nelson can dribble/generate his own shot, so i think i like him more than deng too. On a good night, i think there might be argument for j-rich.

I don't think you can really compare Deng to anyone on another team. He completely fits what the Bulls need...but I see him not fitting so well w/ what other team needs (consider the Bulls before Rose.)

I think it's more than fair to say that Deng is better than Nelson, J-Rich, Tukoglu, Bass, Redick, or Arenas. I don't think Deng has a mediocre three-point percentage either. Nelson has about as good vision as a PG as Rose does anyway too.

Deng got his big contract playing with Kirk Hinrich, it's not like he only became a goods player once he had a superstar point guard.

Yes, absolutely. Howard should be MVP for making them as good as they are because the rest of the Magic are a horrible supporting cast. Nelson is a middle of the road point guard and J-Rich has dropped off a ton without Nash. Hedo and Arenas at this point are worse than Bogans, they're absolutely abysmal.

Anyway as far as the all-D team goes if a Bull makes it I think Brewer deserves it before Deng. Coming off the bench probably hurts his chances but by rights he should be there.
