Ben Gordon's agent is reportedly telling people that his client has a guarantee from the Pistons.

The agent claims that Detroit has promised Gordon $11 million annually, which makes sense considering that the guard rejected $10 million and $9 million from Chicago in the previous two years.

It's been nice knowing you BG and thanks for all of the memories. One I don't think there's any way offer Gordon 11 million and I think he would take Pistons offer if we did. They would have Boozer and he figure the pieces would be together, while we have freakin Tyrus Thomas. Also, I think we would have to offer a Deng like deal if he wanted to come back and there's no way we could do that. Your saying your core is then Gordon, Deng, and Rose which would be at the most 2 round team

Yeeeeeyyyy all the Jerk Hinrich fans are so happy now, probably wearing knee socks and Hinrich's size S jersey with matching headband parading around the house with their frat buddies.

Do you have a link for the article? Those quotes look different then the Sam Smith ones.

Ahh, not surprising. Yeah, probably still the same Sam Smith source.

It's interesting because it's tampering for Detroit to have talked to the agent about Gordon, and while I expect that level of tampering is common, it's very strange that his agent would let it out.

Why would the agent care though? Its not like he will get in trouble rather that Pistons would get in trouble. What would happen though? They get team fine?

If it were proven they could get fined, lose draft picks, or be prevented from signing Gordon. Given that the Pistons would really stand to lose an awful lot in this situation, and they're the ones that are paying the checks why would you do anything to upset them?

I've never seen this happen so I was just basing this on NFL when 49ners got caught tampering with Briggs and nothing really happen except the lost of late draft pick

The Pistons were caught tampering with Joe Smith and lost a crapload of draft picks, granted that was a somewhat different type of tampering.

This type of tampering is really difficult to prove though, so it's unlikely anything would come of it.

I think you are referring to Minnesotta tampering with Joe Smith. Like you said though, that is a very different type of situation. That was under the table money to avoid the salary cap. They lost 5 first round draft picks for that. Its amazing it took until now for McHale to loose his job.
