If I'm the judge, I'd throw it out and tell them to go back to the negotiating table. All they want is to be able to circumvent the labor laws, fire the union workers under the pretense of "reorganizing" and bring in cheap nonunion labor.

It's only the very small bakers union that was holding up the deal.

If someone made you an insultingly low offer and refused to budge, you'd walk away too.

I don't indulge often, but I can buy the same thing Hostess sells for $1.29, except I pay $0.39 for the same thing under a better run business.

There is also a local bakery here that makes their version of a twinkie. I can buy a Dozen for $5, and IMO, I don't miss hostess at all, their version is much better. They also make snowballs and zingers that are BETTER and cost less.

If you're really a fan of these snacks, you should check out your local businesses more.

I'm surprised that Hostess didn't do like Kelloggs, and just replace 90% of it's baking labor with machines.

Which product are you looking for?

Also, don't ignore the Super-Mercando's. They carry all kinds of knock-off brands that kick ass, but a lot that suck too. Taste is subjective, so maybe that crap stuff might be up someone's alley.

Hostess sounded like a company that just relied off it's name brand and didn't feel the need to make many changes until it was too late.

It's been years since I've had any of their products. They're God awful for you anyways.

Thank the cult following of loyal customers that didn't want any changes. I sure bet that group(you know, the people that go to Wal-Mart and buy 6 boxes of Ho-Hos, stash em' on a shlf, and eat the whole purchase before the week is over) is more than willing to accept compromises now.

Even Little Debbie's cult snacks underwent changes in the last 30 years.

Do you mean under the pretense of actually being able to make a profit?

How many industries are Unions going to destroy before the workers wake up?

I don't support forced labor. Forcing a business to stay open is just that, forced labor.

I'm sure someone will buy the name brands and reincarnate the products.

Of course, like Fannie May and Lenells they probably won't taste quite the same, but I doubt anything will after your buds are bombarded with Pu-239.

Gotta love the taste of radiation in the morning.

Agreed. My first thought was "at least little Debbie is ok."

A twinkie can survive nuclear holocaust, but apparently not this economy.....

I haven't eaten a twinkie in years...but I suddenly have the urge to stockpile them.
