Disney is paying $4.05 billion to buy Lucasfilm Ltd., the production company behind "Star Wars," from its chairman and founder, George Lucas. It's also making a seventh movie in the "Star Wars" series called "Episode 7," set for release in 2015, with plans to follow it with Episodes 8 and 9 and then one new movie every two or three years.

The Walt Disney Co. announced the blockbuster agreement to make the purchase in cash and stock Tuesday. The deal includes Lucasfilm's prized high-tech production companies, Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound, as well as rights to the "Indiana Jones" franchise.

Disney CEO Bob Iger said in a statement that the acquisition is a great fit and will help preserve and grow the "Star Wars" franchise.

I would kill for a Pixar Star Wars movie. Pixar can write great original movies. They never have annoying characters. All Pixar movies are better than anything Disney has made since Dumbo.

The most recent 3 Star Wars sucked. No, not because I'm a fanboy of the first three or whatever, because the acting sucked, the directing sucked, the writing sucked, the characters sucked, the effects were cheesy and overblown.

When I was in college my little brother came and hung out at my apartment for a week, he was into those Clone Wars cartoons at the time and they were actually pretty cool. Just because it would be animated doesn't mean it wouldn't be good. Besides, the Pixar guys are good at story, and putting together a movie, maybe they could do a good live action one?

It could be worse, like these other poorly made Disney films based around generic plots, geared towards people with extreme ADHD and has no substance.

People complain too much. Yes, Episodes I-III were lacking (though III wasn't all that bad), but they expanded the universe, and at the very least gave a platform to base the well-received animated series off of.

Let's be real, Disney has allowed some very good franchises to make some very good movies. I'm not even sure Disney will have a ton of control over the direction of the films anyway (Lucas' successor sounds like the lead). This is great news for me.

Personally loved Episode 3 (minus the Noooooooooooooo!) - actually think its just one of the best of the series and nerds just rip on it because they were still pissed over Jar Jar binks.
