ESPN isn't exactly the pinnacle of good NHL information, but off-season discussion fodder:

Multiple sources have told ESPN's Greg Wyshynski that the following divisional restructuring is in play:

Tinkering the Central to be made up of the Hawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers, Predators, Pittsburgh Penguins, Blues, and Tampa Bay Lightning.

Hard pass on that realignment. Don't need anything more than Detroit, Blues, and the "Northstars".

Gonna be a weird season of mini-bubbles and regional play. They should just put massive focus into interactive live fan streaming experiences and upgrade the television broadcast.

One thing I've read is possibly teams playing each other like 4 times in a row to minimize travel. I like the idea because games 3 and 4 of that arrangement could get a bit feisty.

It won't be ideal but they have to try. I can't imagine a winter without hockey

Would be awesome to have Detroit back in the division -- but wasn't the whole point of them leaving the Central was because they hated the time zone (since they're EST)? So why would the league move them back after they've been bitching to move out of it for so long?

I'm already suffering without hockey.

There aren't enough football games to sustain a sports bettor and its my worst sport to pick. I think I had a 98% chance at homelessness about 3 weeks ago. Absolute heroism to be sitting here now around 50/50 which way this might go.

Missed a 9 team parlay by 1 goal yesterday for $8000 and the same game wrecked a 6 team $7,000. 1 goal...$15,000 and my guys didn't even create a shot the final 30 minutes. Not a shot on goal...not a shot over, sideways, or under. Not a shot.

That would have swung the odds to 98% in my favor I beat Covid and recover from this.
But I'll take 50/50 from where I was. A bettor must live or die on 50/50.

I believe they cited time zone, I also recall they were the most mileage travelled team in the NHL prior to moving to the east, and they felt it was a disadvantage over the course of a season.

Were you betting on hockey yesterday?
