So, Had to brag on this.
I was dirt poor growing up, and my moms situation didnt improve much after I moved out. She is far too old to work, and lives on her SS benefits.
She had been living in a terrible little apartment for well over a decade.
Well, the house next door to me came up for sale at a spectacular price. It was a run down piece of shit, and everything needed to be done to it.
I wound up tackling almost every last bit myself, except for putting in the carpeting. (I wrecked out the old and redid the floorboards where needed, all they had to do is the pad and carpet).
Did the roof, tile and hardwood floors, complete top to bottom overhaul of the bathroom (all that was left was the flooring joists... plywood up), shower, windows, walls, molding, and doors.
House and all upgrades for just a touch over 40k. Now, this is where my mom lives! (antique kitchen set and hd tv were housewarming gifts from me.)
Pretty proud of all the work I put in.

Below are some before and after shots.

I just took measurements today to build her a new deck out front, and will start on that as soon as weather allows.

For the winter, I am taking a break. I have a 79 firebird that I am in the midst of rebuilding and hope to have that done by spring... gotta take care of myself sometimes!

Thank you!

I was completely out of my depth on a lot of the work, and the learning curve took a while!
I have great respect for proffessional builders... the skillset for that is pretty intense.
I am nothing more than a wood butcher that did it more out of determination than skill!
