Does Pujols to Angels mean Fielder to Chicago?

That was my first reaction when I saw that Pujols was LA bound.

The Cubs have the money. Just a matter of whether they want to spend it or not. So far it's looking like "not" but Theo/Jed have also been maddeningly quiet about their plans.

I always thought it was going to be Prince in LA, and now that he isn't, my guess would be the Cubs.

Wouldn't you say so far the Cubs have shown they don't have the money. Even more so with the CJ deal then Albert's?

I see the Cards instantly in the Prince race now that Albert is gone.

It'd be nice for the first five years or so before Prince turns into Jabba the Hutt

I think as long as they can keep it under 6 or 7 years it's reasonable, but being that the Cubs have no DH (yet) a long-term deal for a guy with that kind of body might not be a good idea. The offense would be sweet, for sure. I just see him aging much less gracefully than Pujols would have.

I don't think the Cubs were ever serious about CJ Wilson. I also recall that the Cards said they wouldn't try to get Prince if Albert's gone, especially when they have Lance Berkman for the time being.

Well, if I had to handicap it, I would say it's between Chicago, Texas, and Miami.

No way Miami can sign him after giving contacts to Bell, Reyes and Burls. Plus Hanley makes a ton of money

That was my thinking when they were reporting that they were offering Pujols around 220-230 million. But it's now being reported that they were offering around 280.

The Cubs saying they "have no money" is all lies. Their payroll currently sits at about $60million less than last season. If theo wants Fielder they can get him. Another possiblity is a back loaded contract.
Zambrano done after this season so with him going they can pay Fielder more in the later part of his contract

Yeah, when I hear stuff like this, it makes me think someone is being snowjobbed and that it's even more likely to happen. Don't know for certain, of course.

could it mean fielder goes to the cubs? it could, i mean you're eliminating one contender for fielder when you're tied with those contracts...doubt miami

but,in all honesty, its hard to say where fielder is going to go

I'm going to say Texas is where Fielder lands. Just a hunch.
