Has anyone done this? Is it good? Looks like it would save me a few bucks and some time.

Invest in a traditional safety razor. Learn how to shave with it.
Cheaper, better, lasts longer. Not only that, WAY easier to clean. If you have sensitive skin, then just use a better cream/gel(since really the only thing that makes the expensive cartridge units work better on sensitive skin, is the fact they put these little strips on the bottom, and once those wear out, regardless of how sharp the razor still is, they are useless to the person with sensitive skin.)

I looked into it when I heard the ad and I read that the cost was $90 for 10 months (the 6 blade razor plus 3 cartridges a month) and if you were to buy the same razor plus 30 cartridges all at once yourself it would be about $30.

So if you like the convenience, $6 a month extra might be worth it to you.

Idk. I use 4 blade razors at $13 for four and I change once a week. They advertise theirs at $9/month so it could be cheaper. Just wondering if the quality compares.

I started using the dollar shave club about a year ago. Now my wife and I both use the $6 a month option.

good razors and nice handles, we are very happy with the service.

Way cheaper. A nice handle and a brush will cost you around $50-60 if you go middle of the road, but opposite of the cartridges, the actual safety razor blades are where all the money is saved. I just bought 100 Astra blades for $12. Since my skin is a bit on the sensitive side, I shave every 2 or 3 days, and the blades last about 3-4 shaves before they start pulling. So the box of blades that I just bought should last me about three years.

The only drawback to safety razors is that it takes more time. You can't just drag the thing across your face in 30 seconds and expect an even shave... or a face that doesn't look like Hamburger Helper.

This is true, unless.... :)

Adjustable razor.

I bought this a few years ago, and couldn't be happier. It's a very fast razor once you have it adjusted to match your exact needs.

But I'm not suggesting this model to anyone specifically, because for all I know, maybe something better and cheaper exists. The "Futur" model used to be $150.

And better for the environment!

Seriously, I've been meaning to switch to a safety razor for environmental reasons. How long does it take to learn how to use one? I've never cut myself shaving, and I'd prefer to keep it that way.

Great point. That is very true and didn't think about the reduction in trash. Plus, they can be recycled fairly easy if you take a small bit of care in how you dispose/recycle them.

How long does it take to learn? Not long. Just start gentle until you get a feel for it. IMO, with an adjustable handle, they aren't much different than using a mach3 or fusion as far as pressure. They don't flex the same way, but the blades do flex a little.

I use Meijer generic two blade disposables. I shave every other day and replace my razor probably once every 6-8 weeks. My sensitivity is jaw line and lower. With hot enough water I have no issues at all with pulling. Even after three days of growth. I also use a gel which I think does a better job. My beard is very coarse as well.

So my cost is about $1 every two months. I buy a pack of 6 I think and it lasts me a year.

I've been meaning to try to switch to a safety razor, but I havent put justified the up front costs yet.

My chin and neck (especially the neck) are most sensitive, I cut those areas just with a regular razor.

For now, I've been using the Dollar Shave Club, I shave about 2-3 times a week.
