I have been seeing a LOT OF debates about Derrick Rose right now vs D-Wade and B. Roy and most look at where they are right now and really over-look how they were in their Rookie years (both were older than Rose in their rookie years as well).

They just see how Wade and Roy are superstars and ahead of many other star players (Melo/Bosh/Durant/etc) but when talking about Rose, it's like hardly anyone has faith in him or don't think he can reach the level that Wade and Roy are at. They think Rose needs to surpass Paul or atleast Deron Williams (who is very close to CP3 level himself).

Then I go back and look at how they were in their rookie years. Let's compare:

D-Wade (21/22 year old): 16.2ppg 4.0rpg 4.5apg 46.5 % fg

B -Roy (22 year old): 16.8ppg 4.4rpg 4.0apg 45.6 % FG

D-Rose (19/20 year old): 16.8ppg 4rpg 6.3apg 47.5 % FG

Winner? our own Derrick Rose - Younger and better overall Stats.

First Playoffs - Stats:

D-Wade: 18ppg 4.0rpg 5.6apg 45.5 % FG

D-Rose: 19.7ppg 6.3rpg 6.4apg 49.2 % FG

B-Roy (2nd year): 19.1ppg 4.7rpg 5.8apg 45.4 % FG

Now you decide. Is Rose behind this 2 in the learning curve???

He will never reach D-Wade and/or B-Roy's level???

Also, to add to what I said above, remember how people say Rose doesn't have a jumper? Yet, Rose is leading both Wade and Roy in the FG% and in the playoffs, he was close to 50% fg even without that jumper.

Nobody says Roy doesn't have a jumper.

Also, This is all with Rose not able to go to the line. Imagine once he starts getting the call??? He shoudl be 50% fg or better as well as his efficiency will rise big time AND his PER as well as his PPG.

I personally would be big time disappointed if he doesn't get to Roy's level atleast in a couple of years.

b-roy's jumper is way deadlier than rose and wade's. rose's jumper is not bad, its a little flat but he can get hot from time to time. the reason why his fg% is higher, is because he doesnt try to force jumpshots due to his own shot not being very consistent. you could say, he picks his shots better and sticks to what he does best, but his range is way more limited than roy and wade (now that he seems to have improved his midrange game). defenses could potentially sag off of rose because they can predict the drive. with roy, you certainly cannot give him the mid range shot because he will stuff it in your face all day.

but i definitely do agree with you, that rose as a rookie has surpassed the likes of wade and roy during their own rookie years. i think we have nothing to worry about, its only a matter of time before he reaches their level, especially with the way he works.

Rose can reach that level this upcoming season. He doesn't want to though. His main focus is making the players around him better. Why would he want to average 20 ppg. when Tyrus Thomas can't shoot worth a damn. He knows he can go off at any moment like he did at Memphis and Simeon.
