Assuming we keep our picks for ourself I would like to take a look at two PF prospects for the #16 pick. I think both will be there and both are possibilities. They are different players but both have elements in their games that might fit well here. Let's compare and contrast these two guys. (Patterson and Blair)

Patrick Patterson 6'8 223

Smaller in mass than his counterpart Blair. More athletic, more of an offensive scorer, better in pick and roll, not as good rebounder or defender.

DeJuan Blair 6'7 265

Wider body, a beast on boards, plays more consistently at a high level, maybe not as good of a fit in uptempo system, certainly not strong in pick and roll either offensively or defensively, not as good of a mid range jumpshot compared to Patterson, seems to display more effort battling underneath

Hypothetical- both are at #16, who ya got?

I like Terrance Williams but we gotta go big man at 16 and those are my two favorites as well. I haven't saw too much of Patterson but got a pretty good idea of Blair so I'm leaning towards him. Blair is a big guy with a long wingspan. he's gonna block shots and rebound. He'll be a real bruiser

Patterson from what I hear he has a good post game which would be nice but I haven't seen him play just read that from places

My pick Austin Daye because this team is obviously being built around Rose. Austin Daye is skilled more than both of them guys - thanks to his dad. Daye gives the Bulls scoring instinct and this rare go-to mentality. Patterson and Blair will be good for the short term but Daye can potentially be that guy whom is untouchable in trades. His thing is strength. He can get stronger if he puts the work in and I know his work ethic will allow him to.

We got the 26th pick too. Is he even projected in the top 20

Most observers think he'll be a lottery pick and some think he''ll slip into the late first round.

Austin Daye’s been a sure-fire first-rounder since he got to Gonzaga. With his play last season, by the middle of last summer, he morphed into a sure-fire lottery pick in the upcoming draft. I’ve got to think he’s still a lottery pick, but the question is if it will be this year or in the future. There’ve been serious moments of magic this season, but other than the Arizona game, he’s essentially the same player he was last year. My thought is that he could go either way. Let’s say Arizona was the tipping point he needed to start dominating fools the way only he can, I’d bet he’s gone after this year. If he continues to sort of muddle through games, only occasionally showing up as El Fenomeno to crush someone’s will, I’d bet he comes back next year. But then again, the NBA doesn’t necessarily care how good you are as a college player; they care if you’ve got a chance to be El Fenomeno in the future. So what do I know?

apparently austin daye is projected to go undrafted according to nbadraft.net...but that probably has more to do with him being a sophmore

They have him in the 2010 NBA draft section. Besides, I wouldn't trust that site. Their selection are so far off that the followers on that site questioned the engineer.

They have him in 2010 going 35th

It should be Blair or Patterson. If you're looking for the higher potential you go with Patterson but if you're looking for a PF to fit with Tyrus and give us that bruiser than it's Blair

I haven't seen much of Patterson but from whatever articles I can find on the web he looks like he has potential to post up. They say his rebounding isn't great but he can score

Patterson reminds me of a undersized Amare Stoudemire. I like that guy, but if the 43% from three Austin Daye is available, then no question he's the guy I'm going with. He outplayed the project top 5 pick Hill in a game this year. He was blocking Hill shots and taking it to the hole on him. He also nailed jump-shots on the Cat. That guy has promise. Despite his size, Daye finds a way to get the job done on the offensive end. I think if we were to get him, expect a production of 10 ppg., 7 reb., and 4 ast. in the year to come. He still most continue to grow into his body.

You have to go with Patterson, and I don't think it's all that close. He can do everything the Bulls need in a power forward. The guy can be effective in the pick and roll, pick and pop, post up, face up, fastbreak, draws contact and he will knock down his free throws. Patterson will even be a better defender in the pros. The college game is made for a guy like Blair, but in the league he'll have to take off his cement boots. I doubt either guy will be very good pure post defenders, but Patterson's will definitely be better off the ball. Not to mention he's not going to be struggling with a weight problem out of the gate.

Most power forwards in this draft will measure out as undersized, but i'm still interested in seeing where these guys stand. I just hope Patterson measure out at or better than 6'8" in shoes. I have no doubt he'll be heavier than the listed 223.

Speaking of the draft, YO DOUG! Get Draft Express to do more regular podcasts!! They do one like every year, that just isn't going to cut the mustard.

That is probably one of the best NBA draft sites, yet there isn't enough fan interactions. They need to do way more podcasts, espically during the off season - which is now for the Bulls.
