McGraw puts together a lot of the rumors going around about the bulls and the deals floating around a couple weeks before the deadline. What would you like to see done.

It also looks like the bulls are going for a big fa and a smaller one.

Basically, the Bulls want to plug in LeBron James, Dwyane Wade or Joe Johnson at shooting guard, and add Chris Bosh, Carlos Boozer or David Lee at power forward. In theory, the two acquisitions would join Derrick Rose, Luol Deng and Joakim Noah in a title-contending starting lineup.
Whatever the combination, the Bulls have a specific game plan for these next two weeks and it's to go "all in" on free-agency. Bulls fans should keep their fingers crossed that John Paxson doesn't misplace his cell phone.

Possibilities
The Bulls would gladly send Hinrich, Salmons and Jerome James to Boston for Ray Allen and filler. The Celtics may feel a need to get younger now, and the Bulls are hoping general manager Danny Ainge says yes before the deadline.

The Lakers could be a potential partner because Bryant has long been a fan of Hinrich and may think his defense can help ensure another championship. The Bulls would want Adam Morrison and other expiring deals in return.

There are plenty of rumors being tossed around, such as Salmons to Orlando for J.J. Redick and Anthony Johnson; or Salmons to San Antonio for Michael Finley and Matt Bonner. Houston has McGrady's enormous expiring contract to peddle and might warm to the idea of adding at least one of the Bulls' guards. Oklahoma City has a number of expiring contracts.
But there have been discussions about using Deng as the main piece to get Boozer from Utah or pry Al Jefferson away from Minnesota

Personally, I would love to see Kirk/Salmons/James for Allen and something with Deng for boozer probably with TT being the piece needed to complete the deal. That imo makes us better, gets us to max contracts next year and dumps all of our long term commitments. Our only worry then would be getting some depth on the bench. Brown would move to the starting sf and we would be really thin 1-3 off the bench but maybe we could get some fillers in these deals like daniels or allen from boston and one of the jazz deals or pull of a reverse thabo type deal and give up a pick for some depth. Either way, it looks like we are trying to clear room for a second tier star to go with a max guy and not sacrifice the year. Should be exciting to see what happens. I'm glad we hae options for our long term deals.

Moving both Deng and Hinrich makes sense to me: we'd give up on this year in exchange for 2x max cap space. Moving one without the other doesn't make a lot of sense to me though, there's no real point in having 1.5x max and having to use that .5 to pay some guy who's on Deng/Hinrich's level anyway, but will just end up with a longer deal.

Oh and if it happens I told you so on Deng being someone teams would swap for an expiring. ;)

This article has made me happy. Rose, Johnson, Deng, Lee, Noah. That sounds good to me..
Than We would just need to make some more trades to deepen our bench, trade Miller and Thomas, They have their moments but their an overall headache. Sign some good free agents and bamm! Title contenders...

Thinking and doing are two separate things. I still don't get why Utah would do it, they are trying to dump salary. But I'd love to dump him. I also don't think we;d give up on this year if we did the boozer and allen deals. I think we would improve if anything. We would just need some bench players.

I'm inclined to agree. Allen is a huge improvement at the SG over anyone we can put there now. Plus the expiring deal is good for 2010 and what not. The Boozer deal also gives us the post presence and all that stuff, which is great. If we did both, I'm not sure how much depth we'd have left, but our starting 5 would be pretty darn good. Rose, Allen, Salmons (I'm guessing), Boozer, Noah? That's a potent lineup. All that needs is some depth...I guess that would be Brown, JJ, Taj, and Pargo if necessary. But I don't really see either of the other teams doing these deals.

I'm talking dumping them for nothing when I say give up on the year, if you can get productive guys like Allen and Boozer that's different (although minus Deng, Salmons, Kirk & Tyrus we'd really struggle for depth). I think getting guys who are crap but expiring seems more likely, but we'll see.

I think its kinda key to make the playoffs. We picked a lot of interest with a winning record. I think if we could make a solid showing and get to the second round we have a real chance at Bron. Bron and a boozer or lee will make us a contender for years to come.

If LeBron can win 66 games with Mo Williams & Z, you've got to think just LeBron, Rose and Noah with whatever ring-chasers we can pick up is a championship contender. If we could get someone like Lee as well I think we'd be the favorites.

I agree we have a shot at the second round and it'd be huge to get there, not just for LeBron, having a better team than Wade & Bosh's current teams would help too. It really depends on Noah, if he was healthy there's no way we would have gone 0-3 over this stretch. If he can get back to playing like he was, then we're a real shot of an upset, if not then the Bucks could even overtake us for 8th.

Frankly if we got LeBron, I don't think we'd even need another established FA player to make this team work. LeBron is that good right now, and Rose in his third year should be really something.
