I have never played Duke Nukem so I doubt it.

But Gearbox made this so I might.

Still good to see if finally coming out. You should buy it on Onlive you get a free console for buying it.

Is there any word on multiplayer in this game? If they have any focus on multiplayer I'll buy it, if not, pass.

There will be four gameplay modes which are basic shooter multiplayer tropes including Dukematch (Deathmatch), Team Dukematch (Team Deathmatch), Capture the Babe (Capture the Flag) and Hail to the King (King of the Hill). All multiplayer modes can only support eight players with 4 vs. 4 teams. There will be 10 maps at launch including Dukeburger in which miniature Dukes fight among oversized props, as well as Morningwood, an Old West town, and a Vegas Casino.

The Jetpack only shows up in some multiplayer maps and is not available in single player. Holoduke will cause the player to become cloaked, allowing for sneak melee kills. The Steriods allow Duke to do one hit kill punches and run faster, but Duke won’t be able to shoot weapons. Shrunken Dukes can still use weapons, but only at 10% damage.

The classic Laser Trip Wire makes a return, as well as the Pistol, Shotgun, Ripper chaingun, Pipebomb, the RPG, Shrinker, Railgun, Freezer, and the Devastator. However, unlike the original game, Duke can only use 2 primary weapons at once along with pipebombs and tripbombs.

Like every shooter released since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, players gain experience for kills to customize their Duke. Players get bonus XP for special kills, like stealth kills with the Holoduke and even killing yourself while killing others. Special kills are only awarded once per match, however.

If you decide to play Capture the Babe, then you may wish to know one tiny difference between it and the normal Capture the Flag game type. When you grab the other teams “babe”, sometimes she’ll start to freak out and struggle as you take her back to your base, so you have to give her a smack to quiet her down. I just wonder if you will smack her in the face or in the behind. I would imagine that you would have thrown her over your shoulder so the behind would be easier to smack, wouldn’t it?

For all you youngsters, this game’s MP will be old school. In other words, lots of circle strafing (as you will do in the SP) and no cover. So you kiddos may not like it, but you gotta remember, this is an OLD franchise and they are doing things like they did back in the day. So you will probably not like the game, but you old schoolers like myself should have tons of fun.

I grew up playing Doom, Duke Nukem, etc..they just weren't my favorite games really. I got into shooters as I grew older, I pushed them aside for the most part when I was kid, except GoldenEye. When that game came out it was like crack. I will definitely give this game a try now that it at least has some kind of multiplayer. Sounds pretty cool and looks awesome from that YouTube clip. I'm excited for this game now.

reviews are in...just as bad as i thought...

IGN Ratings for Duke Nukem Forever (X360)
out of 10

5.0 Presentation
Duke has not aged well. As simple as he ever was, as irrelevant as he's ever been.
6.5 Graphics
Poor framerate and a general lack of detail or artistic flair throughout.
6.0 Sound
Duke's one-liners are the best thing you'll hear.
5.5 Gameplay
The shooting parts are good, simple fun. Everything else is unnecessary.
6.0 Lasting Appeal
A chaotic, old-school multiplayer mode that gets to the point a lot more effectively than the story mode.
5.5
OVERALL

Mediocre

We Haven't Seen The Last Of Duke Nukem - News - www.GameInformer.com

We Haven't Seen The Last Of Duke Nukem

Duke has been the talk of the industry for the last week or two, and it's not in the good way. The 12-years-in-the-making title launched to dismal review scores and numerous offended journalists, but that's not enough to bruise the King's massive ego.

Speaking to Forbes, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick says we haven't seen the last of Duke. "We don’t really talk about it in detail but you will see future Duke IP coming from this company," said the exec.

He offers nothing even remotely specific, but he does defend Duke's content in the same interview. "We take ratings guidelines and marketing guidelines as seriously as a heart attack around here. We do not market mature products to children. When friends of mine say, 'Oh, I plan to get Red Dead Redemption for my fifteen year old,' I say, 'You know this product is intended for adults?' We are incredibly serious about it."

Zelnick continued, "What is there left to be said? I’m sorry if you don’t like it. Don’t consume it."

i rented it, it was pretty ***.

Exactly. This game was horrible.

And I loved Duke. I used to use the map editor and create levels for this badass back in the day, along with Doom/Quake/etc, but this game is a complete piece of shit.
