Wondering if any smokers out there have tried those electronic cigarettes yet?

I've been smoking cigarettes on and off since I was 16, I'm 23 now, I quit for a while but after getting a job in sales last year I couldn't resist starting again (every hour there was a 10 minute "cigarette break" so I started again considering everyone around me was lighting one up) lately I've been smoking like crazy without any influence and I knew I needed to do something... I was looking for an alternative so I picked up a starter kit and I've gotta say that nicotine craving is definitely satisfied with these. Of course it's not exactly the same, but I definitely think this is a step towards dropping that bad habit. I've had a few friends that quit using these by lowering their nicotine dosage every couple weeks. This is my first night though, and it's been pretty successful so far. Anyone else with experiences with it?

Never have, as I started at 14 by bumming them off my older friends.... I quit cold turkey at 24... was forced to after the asthma and possible bronchitis started kicking in.... -.- Worst experience ever let me tell you.

I still have it as a result at 31, too. Totally sucks.

You young bloods have it good.

Yah I have one. Here is the deal.

I have one that is liquid based. Many different flavours you can get. It was good at first but then I started to find the hits too harsh and the flavours began to get a burnt flavour which was gross and made me ill. So I stopped using it. Problem could have been that I didn't clean it properly.

However...I just had an old friend in town and she has an e-cig that was based on different cig brand flavours. It wasn't liquid based but had a flavour inserts. Her e-cig was actually really good and tasted exactly like a real cig and felt like it too. I might get one of those because I thought it was really good and probably would work much better than the liquid based one I have. I need to quit and this one would probably work better and help.

What brand did you have and what brand did she have?

With mine, I don't know how you can "clean it properly"... it's pretty basic. Battery that you screw into the "filter"

I'm glad there is someone else on the boards here that feels the need to quit. Maybe we can help each other out.

I bought mine from the local supermarket, so I'm sure it's more similar to yours than hers.

I got the Joye 510 and I make my own juice; it's a lot cheaper that way but I do go back and forth with smoking and vaping.

Ton, if you do want do get into making your own juice go here: http://www.ecigexpress.com/ and here to calculate: http://www.todmuller...uice/ejuice.php

having been someone who was at one time addicted to nicotine (I hate when people use the term habit, it isn't habit YOU ARE ADDICTED). Quit cold turkey. Using nicotine substitutes merely extends the anguish of your physical withdrawl. It will suck monkey ass for like 5 days, but after that its pretty smooth sailing, and not wanting to go through those first few days again will help you not relapse. Seriously, its a matter of just getting the shitty part over with as opposed to dragging it out for weeks and months, because the fact of the matter is, you will be suffering withdrawl effects the entire time you are reducing your intake. That and look at pictures of people who got lung and mouth cancer and know that could be you if you keep at it.

My friends that smoke basically seem to use e-cigs as their way to smoke in a bar, not as an overall substitute.

I think Mr Tater has.

Indeed I have and I still do. I have the liquid based kind and I know what TCD means when he said it can be harsh at times. The liquid is Marlboro Light for now, next time I'll try vanilla, strawberry or one of the other flavors they have.

That or maybe switch too the other type TCD's friend has.

I haven't stopped regulars completely but it's nice to have, especially when it's -2 degrees out.

I like the taste of a regular smoke. But the lingering smell bothers me. It's like I just want to smoke it, then have it go away. Kinda like after I bang PMXC's mom.

Thats like my biggest pet peeve at work (if im in the office) is, particularly winter time because they huddle in some enclosed space, is working side by side with a smoker, they just stink so bad and their breath would kill an elephant.

It bugged me in college too if I started making out with some chick that smoked, I was like uggg... but I gotta do this to get in her pants.

I never smoked, I dipped for a few years I was in the army (its very common among the military). Smoking and dipping two different forms of utter grossness.

Seriously fellas, just quit the shit cold turkey, It sucks ass for a little while, but its worth it. I don't want to hear about any members here getting lung cancer, mouth cancer, or any other tobacco related disease.

It always reminds me of Dennis trying to bang Mac's Mom, but she's just not attracted to him.
