Roger has seen his last movie. Dead at 70. He had a hard time the last several years. Fucking cancer.

I'm not going to lie. I liked Siskel 100x better, and those two were solid as a team. But Ebert alone was meh.

That being said, I am glad, and proud to have had one of the world's best movie critics as one of Illinois' very own. RIP Roger. United again, we can all give you guys, two thumbs up.

I heard someone say today "Roger Ebert taught us how to die" then went on to explain how he didn't hide after he got cancer, he didn't let it change his daily life as much as he could. he did what he loved til the last minute.

I couldn't agree more. RIP.

That sucks, and I respect him for putting his struggles out in the open, but 9 out of 10 times, his movie opinions differed from mine.

"I know it is coming, and I do not fear it, because I believe there is nothing on the other side of death to fear. I hope to be spared as much pain as possible on the approach path. I was perfectly content before I was born, and I think of death as the same state. I am grateful for the gifts of intelligence, love, wonder and laughter. You can’t say it wasn’t interesting. My lifetime’s memories are what I have brought home from the trip. I will require them for eternity no more than that little souvenir of the Eiffel Tower I brought home from Paris."
