Any of you have one or ridden one? I was over in St Pete Beach for about a week and rented some for the fam. Cruised around the beach and neighborhoods for a few hours. Was a good time. I got up to 30mph+ without even pedaling on the throttle alone. I live close to a trailhead that awesome bike paths, probably more than 70 miles or so in total. Thinking about pulling the trigger on a few.

The old man in me says it's for wimps, but they look fun as hell. Cruising around on a Bird in downtown is so fun. It's like your flying on a skateboard. If it's anything like that, pull the trigger and keep us up to date.

You need to get you an electric fishing rod bro. No casting. No reeling. Gets the fish for you bro! I saved all the energy!

Ebike, like Ebicycle? or Emotorcycle?
If you are talking bikes that you pedal, I don't think I'd be into that.

I rented one not knowing it had an electric motor. Imagine my surprise when the bike just started flying without much effort. Very cool option, but felt a little scammed when I returned it and my app told me that ride cost me three times more than the regular bikes.

I have been debating buying one of those collapsible Escooters. Easy to take on the train and get from the station to the office three times fasters with ten times less effort.

Prime Day is next week, so if they do some deep discounts...I may pull the trigger.

Bicycle, with an electric motor. You can pedal, and the electric motor assists making it really easy and fast. Or, you can just use the throttle and ride it like a scooter. The battery lasts longer though if you pedal vs throttle only.

The main appeal for me is that you can ride them anywhere (e.g. where motorized vehicles aren't allowed) and cover a lot more distance easily. Plus super convenient getting around in urban areas. The ones I rented had big thick tires and full suspension, so pretty capable offroad, but also felt pretty good on the street/bike trails as well. There are some awesome beach riding spots around me, and also the trail system(s) I mentioned earlier.

I can see a 30 mile ride being so fun and easy. Need to get one. What better way to explore than a low key motorcycle?

I billion years ago Mopeds were like Ebikes, fun and embarrassing.

Me and the wife rode them around South Lake Tahoe back in the late 80's early 90's and had a terrific time. When we returned from vacation and showed people the pics of us being dorks ridding Mopeds, we took so much crap the stories of our Moped adventures ended and the pics were buried, never to be seen again.

Those pictures still exist somewhere, my memories are still up there, if I find the pics, I will post them here, and revel in the laughter!

If anyone wants to have a terrific time, you can still rent a Moped at South Lake Tahoe, I highly recommend it! But do not tell your friends.

I forgot to mention, the celebrity Golf Championship is going on right now in South Lake Tahoe. It is a weird expensive time to be there right now, but fun!

Keep your eyes peeled for dorks on Mopeds!

I really enjoyed the e-scooters downtown in Austin pre-Covid. My buddy didn't quite clarify how far he planned us to scoot after bar time from Rainey one night when we rode from all the way up to Domain, some 13 miles. Only a few sketchy neighborhoods and passed by the Initech building from Office Space IIRC. Have a screenshot of the Lyft map & receipt somewhere. Was just the right amount of buzzed to take on such a trip but not too drunk to handle it. Those things cruise pretty quick though. Gotta watch out for rocks, potholes, & curbs!

We were down in Austin three years ago for a wedding and my God people just left those scooters absolutely everywhere.

They would finish with them and they don’t even stand them up or put them near a building. They’re just laying across the sidewalk everywhere we walked.
