So lately I notice Edzo keeps getting on his soapbox to rant about how a delayed penalty where the team going on the PP pulls their goalie and scores should carry over beyond that goal.

So essentially if you commit a penalty your opponent gets a potential 6-5 advantage until they score or you get control of the puck and then they get a 5-4 advantage on a PP.

Idk that I agree with this, but what does everyone else think?

Also, why is Edzo all of a sudden railing on this point during broadcasts?

Stupid idea. Penalties already give the other team plenty of advantages. I really don't see the point..

Anything that prevents him from uttering the words elevation/shout out is fine by me.

In a way, I can somewhat see his point. There is no man "advantage" until the whistle, and as Kaner proved last year?, goals against are possible. I just think that it's not that big a deal.

Same here... so I guess I am wondering where the ranting on the topic came from? He is going out of his way to rant about it.

Is the NHL looking at a rule change and he is just trying to drive attention to it?

From what I've seen its been brought up during regular broadcast twice. Once on NBCSN and then last night PB brought it up and asked EO for clarification on his idea.

I don't know if that is technically a rant but I do kinda like the idea. It definitely makes penalties potentially that much more costly which might in turn force teams to shy away from taking a penalty to stop a scoring chance.

Eddie is a treat on the national broadcasts.

He is a lesser drunk version of Pat Foley on the local broadcasts.

John and Troy deserve the TV deal.

The point is that there is less PowerPlays called than in the past. It's a move that would instutue more scoring and more top tier players getting more points in a way.

I get that.... but this is not new.... it would be like if Edzo started ranting about how fighting should be a game misconduct or banned altogether.... I mean I have heard the argument before but he is pushing the issue like its suddenly a problem. As if this Delayed PP thing was not a problem before but suddenly is a problem now.

I can see both sides of the argument TBH.... I am just curious what spurred this sudden level of attention to the issue? Cause I had never heard Edzo talk about it before and suddenly I hear it in 2 straight broadcasts.
