Strange to think Emery is only 28.

He was great when he took the Senators to the finals and he was really good when the Hawks faced him last year.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him on the team.

Wild prognostication: Emery stands on his head a few times and wins the backup spot, looks like the best netminder on the team a few times especially after Crawford has a few bad games, then FLAKES completely the **** out at some point during the season and gets suspended, Salak gets called up and ends up playing in a back to back road game situation, plays fairly well, and Emery gets cut.

emery ftw. this team needs another black player.

Hahahaha... with Emery and Mayers we have one more than the year we won the Cup.

I say we go get Iginla for the second line and become a model of diversity. Hell if it means another Cup I don't care if the whole team is Canadian, Russian, black, green, or left-handed. They're all just Blackhawks to me.

I'm pretty sure that everyone is confident in Crawford and this backup is only if he needs a day off or if Crawdaddy gets injured. I don't think Crawford will have enough bad games that he will be pulled from the starting spot.

Every goalie gets pulled at some point. Hasek, Fuhr, Eddie, all of 'em. If they didn't we'd never have seen Niemi, and we'd never have seen Crawford. Everybody has a meltdown or just gets worn down. I think that's when we'll see Emery and he'll be badass... then he'll schiz out ;-)

If Emery beats out Salak, I want Q to give Crow a little more of a breather.

Stop playing him in back to backs.

I don't think he'll have enough to be pulled but I think he'll end up melting down at some point, like all netminders do occasionally, and he'll get rested the next night, and Emery will look like a stud momentarily.

Then he'll go schizo ;-)

It's his pattern.

I do agree though that Crawford will be VERY good this year. We grow goalies like weeds.

Yeah, I think Emery as a backup might be better than Salak because Q won't be as nervous about putting his backup on the ice. Crawford will need his rest because in the one playoff series he played he was good, so hopefully he is a good playoff goalie.
