Any Enderverse fans here? Since the movie is coming this fall, it's bout time we got ready. It's kind of wacky how the project came together. OSC has been hounded to get the Ender's Game movie done for 25 years. Since all of that time has passed, this adaptation is supposed to include Ender's Shadow, which is kind of crap on it's own, but pretty complimentary to the original story. Maybe even more detail about the Wiggins?

If this movie hits, there's at least 5 more potential high-quality movie adaptations that could happen out of the saga.

The Ender's Saga is about siblings (two brothers and a sister) that completely evolve around their abilities and the needs of mankind in different ways. The main character is Andrew(Ender), who is the youngest of the three. At this time, people started getting to deep into space exploration before they had weighed all of the consequences and set their priorities. That pushed most of humanity into problems they could no longer deal with while they were already running very thin on manpower on earth. All of this contributed to a growing conflict between the super-nations on earth(that is patched up by compromise, when the human race makes an alien enemy.) The trailer should give you the rest without spoiling. :)

Oh, and OSC is a douche bag, but damn, he can write a great futuretopia.

I love the book (only read the first one). Hopefully they don't **** it up.

The screenplay was supposedly rewritten over a dozen times over the last 25 years. Either the kinks were worked out, or it's scrambled egg and ham by now. Oh well, I'll still give them my $14 to see it on an IMAX screen. Of all movies that were slated for 2013, this one has the story to blow everything away.

If they don't **** it up, this should be a movie that everyone can enjoy. You don't have to be a geek to fall in love with most of the Ender's Saga(but it does help).

You don't have to be a geek to fall in love with any of the Ender's Saga and if they play their cards right, this series should get to the level for adults that Harry Potter was for kids. It has everything you could ask for. War, sports, family, love, drama, alien species, impending doom for earth, future technologies, suspense, plot twists, character development etc etc etc. This should be a huge box office hit if this is all portrayed anywhere near how it is in the books.

I listened to the first book on cd years ago and only vaguely remember it. It's on my list of books that I need to read/re-read.

At the time I didn't even realize it was part of a larger series.

Yes, I can't wait to see this on the big screen, even if it's completely disappointing.

Oh oh oh! Damn it, I lost the link. If anyone catches it, post it. One critic reviewed the film as so-so because... get this...

The little boys and girls uniforms weren't tight enough and were too loose around the crotch. Dead serious review from a syndicated movie critic. W T F

I just read an interview with Orson Scott Card, and apparently he wrote something like 5-6 screenplays from scratch and edited several of them until he was happy with the end result. The POV is changed since the first-person-singular didn't fit film format too well, they made the kids older (I think Ender was 6 in the first book?) but not old enough to tempt producers into including a "love interest," (i.e. not teenagers) and they made Ender into less of a loner by giving him a "buddy" that was basically just a throw-away side character in the book.

As usual I'll wait until it gets released on DVD, but it's something I'm looking forward to.

Card is a social caveman.

But you gotta ask yourself, how often have you read good sci-fi from a sane person?

I think I listened to ender's game book on tape a couple years after reading it. At the end, there was an extended interview with Card and he went off on all this mormon nonsense. I was like WTF! lol

Anyway, imo, the first book is like an action adventure, but the later ones get much more intellectual and philosophical and are fuckin awesome imo. Oh, and I did not notice any mormon proselytizing at all.

I know nothing, but to add, a buddy of mine surprised me by saying he read the book and is really looking forward to the movie. Surprised me because he's an old fart like me.
