Escape from Alcatraz

Wow. Just saw the movie. I thought it was great. I'm young so I never see much of Clint Eastwood but he's such a good actor. I spent all day watching documentaries on the real escape and it's hard to say they died.

They found the raft, footprints next to it on Angel Island, 3 men reportedly stole a car that morning. The mother of the Anglin brothers always got anonymous flowers on mother's day. She got a christmas card that year they escaped saying, "Merry Christmas Mom, Love John", and 2 tall unknown women with tons of makeup showed up to the mother's funeral then left before FBI could talk to em. That's too coincidental to not be true. They had to have survived the escape. Fucking badass.

Anyone else into the Alcatraz escape case?

unforgiven is imo one of the best westerns ever made.

I like the song at the end of gran torino, but the real version, not clint singing. He is not satchmo.

Frankly, it was underwhelming. It's a fairly small prison. There is a common eating cafeteria area. The prison cells are very small. Kinda dreary. It looks better from San Francisco and on the boat ride over but once you are on the island it's kinda meh.

This is from the SF side of the bay

The bay is cool and you can rent big party boats for corporate outings. I entertained 100 customers on a night cruise one night. Or you can get on sailboat and have brunch on Sunday with your family and 2 other families vacating from some other part of the world.

I have been to San Francisco maybe 30 times and it's my favorite city. Beautiful, interesting and if you love temps between 60-75 all year round it's wonderful. It's very cosmopolitan and each time I'm there it reminds me that the notion that America is for white males is all wrong. Walk around SF and realize you are part of a global community. Makes you think of world problems, issues, cultures differently

Of course, you also see a lot of this in SF. Makes you wonder why the homeless always get the best shopping carts

outside of the weather, how could you visit Uptown Chicago and not get some sentiment of different world problems, issues, and cultures? In one block you have Nigerians, Koreans, Vietnamese, Cambodians, Mexicans (duh) and all of those South Americans, and all sorts of regular Chicagoans (Poles, Italians, Germans, Scandinavians)

I can't really think of an area where there's more cultures clusterfucking like Uptown. There's even native americans up in that *****, and it's a really small area.

OK, but outside of the downtown area, Chicago is a shithole, SF isn't.

I'll take Seattle any day over San Fran. Where do you get this notion about America being for white males? I'm a white male, never felt that way. Who the **** really thinks that?
