I almost want to boycott ESPN. This whole Schilling thing is absolutely ridiculous. Before someone jumps in, I actually don't agree with his opinion but it is his opinion. I find the bolded part ridiculous. Cutting something that happened because dude is out of favor with your network? That's absurd. On the other hand I don't blame them for letting him go he's had chances and continued to be stupid. All that said ESPN is an absolute joke.

Without even knowing I will say that largely I've felt ESPN was a dumpster fire and that the one bit of original programing(30 for 30) came from Bill Simmons who they recently fired. To me Stephen A. Smith basically sums up ESPN because he's a guy who will ***** to high heaven when some unnamed scout says something about a black football prospect and then he will go around completely with no basis and suggest Arrieta is using PEDs with no irony.

It's all good though. I'm pretty sure cable TV is largely dead and the only reason it's hanging on is that sports leagues haven't gone to a full streaming service.

Oh I had heard about the transgender stuff. I mean I get why ESPN did what they did but I do also think it's kind of dumb someone can't have a personal opinion on something. I don't particularly agree with his opinion but I also think a lot of these groups who've been discriminated in the past go over the top on a lot of stuff but then I also have the white privilege.

Depends on the contract and final cut power status. Maybe the director would have the say but maybe ESPN itself does have that say.

Again that part of it is absolutely ridiculous. As I said before though I do understand the firing. People can lob political correctness at this issue all they want but in the end corporations make decisions based on money. Long term they saw him continuing a pattern of behavior (this was his third "controversy" in 16 months) that would cost them ad dollars and they made a business decision. The removing the bloody sock thing from the film strikes me as personal, and extremely petty, from the production staff as it really makes no sense from a financial standpoint.

They haven't been, and I'd say it goes beyond 15 years. Their politics don't belong in sports. The sports are the story. They make other things out to be bigger than they are. You could see them going left almost immediately after OTL started airing.
