I read that entire article (great find by the way). I couldn't help but get the feeling that perhaps his family and maybe even Rose himself probably wished to play for any team except Chicago.
I don't know much about where he lived growing up, but it sounds rough and I'm glad he's able to provide for his family now and I'm so grateful that he is a bull.

why would he wish to play somewhere else? It's not like he was using drugs and needed to get away from his dealers or anything like that. Plus, the neighborhood he probably lives in now is far away from Englewood.
I'm happy he and his family were able to get away from there though.

Derrick's mother is a great woman. It's a shame there aren't more like her in Chicago. If there were it would greatly reduce the crime and gang activity in the city, but I'm happy that she Rose(pun intended) Derrick and her other three sons the right way.

Just that he is the best player to come out of Chicago probably since Wade and the pressure from being from Chicago and playing for the Bulls would have been and has been enormous.
Maybe wish was the wrong word to use. Just got the feeling that his family wanted out of Chicago to perhaps a less pressurized market.
