the real question is " why is the league dedicating time and manpower themselves to find a location in NYC?" Shouldn't an investment/owner group b doing that legwork? Isn't that unfair to other markets that would like to be in the league?

^I agree, and I don't think any city should have two teams just yet. Chivas USA is an utter failure in LA, Chicago is the next biggest and we definitely can't handle another team just yet, and above them, New York doesn't need one.

If they want the Cosmos back so much, merge their ownership group with the Red Bulls and make Red Bull the jersey sponsor.
