In Peppers' case, it was desire. He mailed it in with the Bears under Tucker, and was excited to play again last year.

I suppose it's possible the same happens with Allen, but like others, I won't hold my breath.

I do not expect that all the guys who "may contribute" actually will contribute. But I am still very confident that we will see much improvement overall in the D simply due to Tucker being replaced by Fangio. It won't be his Niners' D from the past few years, but we won't be mauled regularly like we have been the past two years.

At this point I would rather play Bass than Allen.

Bass played well last season, is young, and physically he looks like a great match at OLB.

He could be a diamond in an exceptionally "rough" Bears defensive roster.

Allen is just wasted reps and development.

I think Fangio is the type a coach that just might overlook management and their contracts and play a Bass over an Allen if he performs better.

Here is hoping.

Because if you are not competing you need to be developing.

not buying into any of this offseason glass half full blah blah talk

Jay Cutler is much improved, Shea McClellin looks amazing, Jared Allen is revitalized...yeah, yeah, yeah.

So true... I guess right tackle and corner don't matter much either

if a guy switches positions...at age 34...you can pretty much pencil him in as a zero contribution going forward

same goes for borderline busts named Shea, who also switch positions

gimme a break with this stuff

Zero contribution would mean you don't think he'll even register a sack. I'll bet he gets at least 5 sacks.

Jarred Allen in pass coverage, what could possibly go wrong?

I just revised my projection from 5-11 to 3-12-1 (tie with Oakland)

The only good thing about that would be us finally getting a QB and not having to trade 20 1st round picks to move up to get one.

Well i think it's already pretty clear that we won't be seeing as much of Allen and more of all the other guys cause Fangio does a lot of switching out with his d-line. He's already not a starter cause that will be McPhee and Houston so they'll get the majority of the reps and i think a lot of people are underestimating what L.Houston can do for us that we didn't see from him last year because of M.Tucker.

I agree with what you're saying. But if any of those 3 are gonna actually come to fruition I think it's Allen.

Your post was about guys not being able to change positions at 34 and now that there's an example, you want to argue minutia.

I never posted anything of that sort at all. I am saying that a Peppers/Allen comparison is rubbish due to their in game abilities.

Sorry. My response was to what was specifically posted by ikkoikki. I'll wait to see what Fangio does with Allen.
