http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-most-interesting-al-rebuilder-chicago-white-sox/

Read the whole thing but it is an interesting look at statistical reasons for optimism on the South Side. Here is the conclusion of the piece:
The Chicago White Sox will not lose 99 games this season. I wouldn’t quite call them a contender, but a scenario can be constructed in which they sneak into a wildcard spot. I’ll go out on a limb and peg them for third in the AL Central this season, behind the Tigers and Indians, and just ahead of the Royals. It’s a coin flip between the Astros and White Sox for the title of most improved club in baseball, in my opinion. Most likely, this will be remembered as the year that multiple blocks were laid in the foundation of the next very good White Sox club. It should be fun to watch.

i truly have to see a year of this product filled with high ceilings and unknowns before i will consider maybe a wild card. take steps and develop and try to be 500 in this first year.

What do you know we agree. A lot depends on what Jose Abreu is. If he is true middle of the order threat (took him first in a keeper league btw), then the lineup is completely transformed. If he is just middle of the road 1B/DH then it could be ugly again on offense. But there is the potential there to be a surprise, but there is a lot of scrambling going on for those 2-4 spots in the AL Central.

Excuse me need to :fap: to my kitties now...

the kitties have that division locked up barring major injuries. I really don't like the Indians make up. The royals could be a sleeper but we say that every year. The sox need to just use this season to see some of these guys.

Yes the division really is, imo:
1. Kitties
2. ?
3. ?
4. ?
5. Twins

Again injuries could change the picture a fair bit, but hard to imagine 1 and 5 being any different barring meteor type calamity be fallen teams.

than again i thought the jays and angels would easily pull away. the only surprise i would have is if the twins win the division. all i know is as of right now sox are tied for first and are 0 back ; )
