Why wouldn't they just tag him for $16m? Pretty sure that has been their plan.

Tag for a receiver will be more like $20M, but they’d rather save the money and draft a first round WR who’s not nearly as good.

Earlier in the season i said that i think they were waiting to see how the overall offense looked before they committed to Robinson long term. I think his fate was tied to Mitch succeeding. If you're going to be once again rebuilding your offense with a new QB, it might not be worth paying big money for a WR. I thought his fate was sealed once Cohen got his money.
I can see that. But then again, if you are rebuilding with a new QB, wouldn't having a good WR be a big plus?

How do you develop the next young QB without weapons?

True. Maybe they liked their core, idk. I was hoping it was pace being handcuffed by ownership on a wait and see basis.
