This stuff bugs me. It seems like the last 15 years law enforcement keeps extending it's power. I get worried we are going back to the old days where the FBI and other agencies really abused their power.

This just in. They have changed their name to the Gestapo.

Tyranny at its finest. How the Supreme Court doesn't say no to this is beyond me, gross violation of the Constitution and our rights.

If you're not doing anything wrong then you shouldn't be worried. So everyone in here with their drug cartels should watch it.

Everyone says if you arent breaking the law what do you have to be worried about. I wouldnt be surprised to find out if the government would dig through your trash, rifle through your house read emails etc etc, of any one citizen of this country they can find something to haul them in for, that you may not even be aware is wrong. Thats what the problem is.

Who appoints and votes in the Supreme Court justices....sadly that check and balance flew out the window years ago.

So from now on, before throwing your trash out, down a few pickled eggs, asparagus, sheese, cabbage, beer, garhished with hot sauce and washed down with a fifth of gin. then, releve yourself all over your trash. Make 'em EARN their pay.

That argument would also too probably hold a little more weight if they could guarantee that their has never been nor will ever be a wrongful conviction suit due to any of this evidence. On top of the privacy concerns, the main problem with this is that it's just more ways to pull defamation evidence and circumstantial evidence to pile enough together to try to make a case. Perception is what convicts as much as evidence, and the more power you give them to dig without proof, the more pieces they will find. They can connect those pieces however they want. You make enough inferences and people will believe anything even if there is no proof. And on top of that but along the same lines, these litter extensions of power can lead to some pretty shaky circumstantial evidence when will lead to the true invasion of privacy. This isn't about granting new powers to me, it's about extending many of the powers they currently have to be stronger and move invasive.

The problem is the courts have begun to drift the wrong way. In the 50's 60's and 70's the court helped expand and guarantee the rights of the accused. Limiting unwarranted searches and seizures, miranda rights ect. But in recent years the Supreme Court has drifted the other way. Led by Scalia and others and are chipping away rights. The War on Drugs and the War on Terror have been used as a justification for stripping rights. Much like the fear of Communist infiltration led to stripping rights in the early 50's. That if you do nothing illegal argument is total bullshit. Law enforcement isn't perfect, a lot of those people are heroes and do great work. But power can and will be abused that is what these rights are designed to protect against.

You should work for the FBI. Isn't this the kind of stuff you like to do?

Yeah copy that.

And back to the old days? When government agencies used to abuse their powers? We never left those days.

Adding some various beers and rum and that is a normal dinner for me. Well that and two FiberOne bars to ensure a clean exit.

You want terrorists to be stop? Well there are already hot words that notify the FBI. That's nothing new. This isn't going to be used to sift threw random garbage to MAYBE find something small. That would cost way to much.

And the fucking Gestapo? Seriously? The FBI isn't quiet hunting down Jews to kill.

I would terrorists to stop. Want to know the easiest way to get them to stop? LEAVE THEM THE **** ALONE. STOP FUCKING AROUND IN THEIR COUNTRIES.

I am sorry I am not willing to give up my constitutional rights so the FBI can do whatever the **** they want.

I'm talking domestic terrorists. Not all of them are brown and hiding in Pakistan. The FBI deals with domestic terrorists here. CIA deals with outside the country. And the FBI doesn't decide where to put our military. So us being in other countries is a whole different convo (even though I agree). But it doesn't change the fact.

Still not willing to sacrifice my rights

Ben Franklin's quote always struck the right cord with me

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty or safety
