Bears opponents:
Extra Points: 17/17
20 - 30 FG: 2/2
30 - 40 FG: 1/1
40 - 50 FG: 4/4
50+ FG: 3/3
Total: 27/27

Bears:
Extra Points: 30/32
20 - 30 FG: 4/4
30 - 40 FG: 3/4
40 - 50 FG: 5/8
50+ FG: 1/2
Total: 43/50

It's actually not as bad for Parkey as I thought. What makes it worse is that we used to have Gould who was very reliable and the fact that Bears opponents have not missed this year.

I wonder what the opponent % is over the last several years. I'd be willing to bet the Bears have the worst luck in the league.

He had a bad day, big deal. Back out the numbers from Today and all looks good. Not worried.

Considering 4 were today and 1 was a game winner vs Miami we perceive him to be way worse....plus it seems as if some of his makes are shaky as well.

I'm no kicking expert but it seems like he scoops or floats his kicks vs driving the ball. In the winter with winds in Chicago I can see this trend continuing.

It's been unlucky if you want to call it that ever since Lovie was fired. Under him though, we got a lot of lucky breaks. Cardinals MNF game was like a 40 yard kick they missed.

lol I was thinking the exact same thing as I was witnessing this meltdown today. Couldn't recall a missed FG by the opposition this year and sure enough they have made them all.

Luckily he will be practicing kicking at Soldier Field going forward so this won't happen again.

Yeah, Parkey's kicks always have a loopy parabola. I would be surprised if he's ever had a kick blocked, but as you said, it allows his kicks to be drawn by the wind. Kicking at Soldier Field is very difficult, and having a kicker with a strong leg and/or a line drive approach helps lessen the wind effect. Parkey is probably not a good fit for kicking in Chicago, and I don't really know why Pace signed him and also gave him so much money.

We obviously need an expert on the staff to understand what a good kicker for Chicago conditions looks like. Parkey was kicking in Florida before we gave him a big (for a kicker) contract. The weather has not even been that poor, and Parkey has always looked weak on his kicks.

Most good kickers have a little movement one direction and then back from pure velocity. Parkey's kicks have always just tailed off, like they are just a balloon, floating in the breeze.

I don't know what the answer is, maybe Parkey working with a kicking coach (he needs some help, not just reps) at Soldier Field would be helpful. Or maybe, just maybe we get a different kicker.

When you can not trust your kicker to make even extra points, then something needs to change.

good news about the Minnesota game is that their kicker isn't any better than Parkey this year.
