They need to introduce hand-to-hand combat so my interest in soccer grows beyond the World Cup (which I fucking love) and the Olympics.

Ya, its a shame that they have not placed a franchise in Chicago or anything like that that could draw your interest in supporting your city... but you know,.

Just can't get down with the MLS. Admittedly, I know little about soccer, but I've always been more enamored with the larger stage of international soccer.

Well have you actually tried to or has it just not happened? Ever been to a Fire game?

The problem is while I'm watching soccer, I am upset when the refs don't give cards as much to clear intentional fouls. Like when a player commits an illegal tackle to stop a fast break. That is an intentional foul , that is no accident. You are purposely knocking the player down.

But, when cards are given and a player is sent off, I feel like the game is over. The other team has won. And if a player happens to recieve a red card , in say, the 15th minute. I wouldn't really want to watch the rest of the game especially if I had paid tickets, I'd feel robbed.

I like the idea of orange cards of putting people in the penalty box. But, I feel like soccer has too much tradition and won't change. Any ideas to even slightly modify it seem radical. But honestly, I like some of the proposals that guy makes. Even though we won't see any of those happen.

Not really a fan of the penalty box or "sin bin" idea... It's a classic sport, don't really favor drastic changes like that :pity:

But would you rather players either get away with it or have red cards called when they shouldn't be?

Baseball is a "classic" sport too, which is why it has taken so damn long for instant replay (which MLS hasn't had installed by FIFA's biased system yet)

I've watched some televised games, but like I said, it just doesn't have the ambiance of EPL or other international leagues. And I'm not nearly as familiar with the more popular players in the MLS. My interest in soccer is definitely an outsider's perspective. I never played it in high school or anything, and I only really started watching it (again, passively) while I was in college. I've really gotten into the last two World Cups, and since the US national team seems to actually be competitive for a change, it might actually be my tipping point. It'll be nice to have a team to root for after group pay.

"It'll be nice to have a team to root for after group play" we've done that a few times in a row now... but this year we have to beat out Portugal or Germany as well as Ghana just to make it out of group play, so wouldn't be so confident if I were you.

And MLS > EPL because Chicago is closer than London.
