Anyone on here like figs? I recently started eating them, they're so good for you. The texture is a little weird though, still getting used to that. All I can find near me are dried figs, fresh ones spoil too quickly to get fresh and I live in too cold of a climate to plant my own tree.
The kinds I've seen near me are mission, calimyrna, & turkish. Mission figs are darker and have a bit of a tart taste to them. Turkish figs are dried a bit more and are quite a bit chewier. They also look like a galapagos tortoises ballsack. I think my favorite is the calimyrna fig. The ones I get at Sprouts are sweeter than mission figs and not as chewy as turkish figs but they are more expensive.
I haven't used them in any recipes yet, I just eat em plain. Anyone have any recipes that use figs? I'd definitely give em a whirl, I think it would be interesting
