Filing Taxes ...help?

So I barely had any taxes to file the last few years but this year I have a decent amount cause I finally landed a decent full time job. I'd rather just do em online for a cheap price.

Does anyone do theirs online? Turbo Tax is like $15 and it seems extremely simple to do. I dont mind paying up to $30.

Any advice?

Ive been using turbotax for a long time. I compared them to H&R Block 12 years ago and my refund was better with Turbotax.

If I owned my own business I might go to CPA but other than that Turbo Tax seems to capture everything and is easy to use. Tax Slayer is probably just as good but I haven't tried it.

The nice thing about Turbo Tax is next year it will save all your info and you can get started much faster.

Yeah I just filed mine from my full time job. I have 2 tax returns from 2 part time jobs I did this summer, which equalled like 3 weeks total of work. One return is literally like 3 dollars, so im not even gonna bother. The other is like $17. not gonna bother. I have one from the beginning of 2013 thats like $100+ but I can't find it anywhere, ugh. that was another part time job.

I've done turbo tax for like 5 years. Before that I used h&r block. They didn't ask me anything that turbo tax didn't automatically guide me through. I see no reason to go and have them prepared by someone unless you have something weird you have questions about.

I do love the pay from your return option too.

Yeah, if your doing a single tax return with normal deductions, TurboTax is the way to go.

I use something called GnuCash for book keeping and freefile/efile my taxes. I compared it with turbotax and get the same exact return. GnuCash is not newbie friendly, but if you want to learn more about your taxes, a more transparent method will help.

I have been using Turbo Tax for years. What's nice is the following years that have all your previous information stored

I think that’s something they did for the first time just this year. At least for the free version. Every other year I’ve had to re-enter my information.

I’ve been using the free version for years. It always asks me a couple of times if I want to upgrade to the paid version but I’ve never seen a need for it because my return is so simple. One W2 for my wife, one for me, 3 dependents, property taxes and that’s about it.

I have the paid version and storing info is one of the selling points

I think I pay about $115. 6 years ago when Block did my taxes it was $550. If I had a CPA do it it would be $1500

For many years I did my own taxes. It was gather all the shit up, close the den door and tell everyone to leave me alone for 7 hours. I'm pretty sure there were 1-2 mistakes or misinterpretations every year. For me paying the $115 is worth it

I wish I could do my own taxes, and I have a BS degree in Accounting, well one of my BS degrees, I managed to earn 2. My taxes are so complex it takes my CPA a while to decipher everything.
