Pretty nice draft for Montreal.

They also have Nelson Rivas, Hassoun Camara, Evan Bush, and Siniša Ubiparipović on their roster.

They have 16 players, 11 Americans, 1 Colombian, 1 Frenchman, 1 Bosnian, 1 El Salvadorian, 1 Gambian, and 0 Canadians, lol.

No, Montreal made those trades.

IDK, Ching, Mapp, and Adu all were unprotected, but they couldn't take Adu because they took Mapp.

:nope: other teams made really dumb moves and left some big name guys up for grabs, we have a solid core and we played way better the second half of the season under the new coach, we will be in the playoffs next year

Wow, Montreal wants Hainult and others in a package if they are to send Ching back to Houston.

Houston were idiots if they thought that they could get 12 protected by having Ching announce he'd retire if selected. Good on Jesse for calling their bluff. Houston continues to be low-class--especially for whining about Montreal's picks after the gamble didn't pay off.

At first I really thought that we may lose some folks in the draft, but after looking at who else was available and the currency that is allotted/expended in the various positions, I became more confident that no one was going to be taken. it's not an indictment of the lack of talent, it's more a matter of value on the dollar for signing a player, or acquiring them for trade purposes. Smart expansion franchises spend the 24-48 hours between when the unprotected lists are made available all the way up until draft day calling around to other teams' FO's to find out who they would want from the other teams, and what they could gain for being the middleman in the transaction. Jesse learned that trade well in Chicago--for more info on that, read the article on The Fire's page from Jeff Crandall, the team writer.

Their whining was dumb, but leaving him unprotected was a gamble I can understand. However, when you lose in Vegas, you can't whine to the casino and get your money (Ca-CHING) back.

If they stand pat with who they've taken in and use the full off-season to work out together, they will be a decent side; think more like Portland than Vancouver.

I'm convinced that when he came to MLS they made him a deal to pay him for a full season, but allowed him to get as many reds as he wanted so that way he'd only have to play half the games all while showing some real fire to his teammates and exciting the fanbase.
