Pardo has been a great addition on and off the field. What's really cool about this announcement came from the Club America website which stated that they have entered into a partnership with 7 other teams.

The reason that is 'cool' is b/c they didn't say 8. They are already in a partnership with the Fire, and the recognise it by saying 7 other clubs. It is a nice nod from them. I just wish we could see some academy players from there get some time up here--even on loan.

If we could send our academy kids (who are VERY successful) to Internacional for their off-season, it'd be amazing for them. But I know many of them have school.

It's not really an either/or situation, now is it? They don't play the same position. You posited it as though we should have gotten one when we already had the other. A deal was already in place with Club America, and one was not in place with Atletico Madrid. Also, do you actually think any team in the US could afford the fee that would be associated with Forlan? Maybe AEG and maybe Red Bull--POSSIBLY Seattle could afford, but I don't think any of them would pony up that fee--which at last estimate was over 40 million euro (or about 53 million dollars).

So yes, I'll take the guy we already have (that has been doing well) than the fantasy of someone we can't afford.

I mean if you want to talk about fantasyland, then the Fire's lineup should be:

Messi Jesus H. Christ

Hurricane Ditka (Hurrican Ditka plays the remaining field positions AND goal. THERE'S A fantasy team.

Normally I could give a toss for Atletico but now that they are partnered with the Fire I will need to hope for some good developments with them--maybe we'd get some academy kids from them.
