So the Denver Nuggets don't want Luol Deng. They don't want the long term salary commitment. However, according to Sam Smith, the Bulls can move Deng for expirings to the Warriors. Here's why it's so tough to make a deal....

I think it would make sense for Denver, plus we'd throw in 1sts. Throw in enough and we might get Afflalo too...

Shameless cut & paste from what I said on Doug's blog ...

I don't see how expirings really make any sense to Denver unless there's some pretty significant assets coming with them. Remember they're in the playoff race, and each home playoff game is worth around a million bucks. Trading Melo for scraps actually hurts them financially.

People act like Denver has to get rid of Melo at all costs, they really don't, they still have the leverage of being able to offer him more money than anyone else, and money talks. Also right now you have to say there's at least some chance Denver does well in the playoffs which may also cause Melo to reconsider. Sure, it's an outside chance, but it's better than no chance.

So basically would you rather Taj and some crappy picks, or even a 5% chance at re-signing Melo? If I'm Denver I'd rather the later.

I don't think it's the Bulls shopping Deng, I think it's the Warriors desperate to find a player. I mean they're willing to part with Gadzuric and Radmanovic to get Deng, no shit sherlock. I'd be willing to send Bogans and Scal for Eric Gordon, get the clippers on the phone!
