This is completely illogical. Caleb just gets pounded when he's throwing that many passes. And its not like some great plan to have Caleb throw more. Usually its because the Bears are a) playing from behind and b) completely unable to run the ball. Caleb's record with 30+ pass attempts is 0-7. His record with less than 30 pass attempts is 4-1.

I think the worst thing the Bears did in terms of developing Caleb was dumping the entire playbook on him and then asking him to throw 40 times a game. All that gave him was bad habits and happy feet. The "sink or swim" approach is very short-sighted.

Yeah I dont really care about winning at this point. Further I think Caleb like Fields needed to learn that you can hold the ball forever in the NFL. The sooner he gets it beat out of him the better. Manning threw 575 times as a rookie.

The other thing to be pointed out here is Harbaugh is on record as saying McCarthy was the best QB in the draft so getting him likely meant no Caleb. Absolutely no reason for him to take the Bears job if he doesnt get to pick the QB of his choice when he could just go work with Herbert.

I hope the Bears learned their lesson but I'm sure they will go out and get another discount coach that stands there saying a bunch of words but in the end says absolutely nothing to the media for 15 minutes. Hopefully their search will lead to the hiring of a leader that will lead this team to an 8-9 record next year and 'hope' that the team will be in contention only to have it fail again and again. Maybe if they somehow human centipede Nagy, Flus, Lovie, Jauron and Trestman together they will get someone halfway competent.

Eberflus was the symptom. McCaskeys are the disease.
I couldn’t give a shit what the coach says. Just win.

Yeah, Jimmy Johnson saying it was the worst coaching job he had seen in all his 70 years around football should have made an impression.

And Cowher talking and pointing out how Eberflus just froze in the situation, etc.

It was, by far, the most negative press from all the national media that I have seen against the Bears and a Bears HC in a long time, if ever.

And I would have fully expected it to continue today during pregame and halftime shows.

Hell, for the 2nd time this season, other HC's publicly talked about how they were studying Eberflus and his decisions as what -not- to do for situational football.
When a coach in his position makes the Hail Mary #2 on the fuckup list, it’s time!

I don't really think that is the case. Caleb was in the shadow of Jayden Daniels for the first half of the year....Flus' end game screw ups are national news in itself because the odds of it happening over and over is astronomical. No one outside of Chicago really has any opinion on Caleb Williams.

Anyone remember last year with Flus on the hot seat he came out to end the season by going soft and giving the Packers every score they could ever want and that's how he saved his job?

I don't think he was ever not numb to have gone numb.
His big expectations from a QB was 200yds, 2TDs, no interceptions.

If I'm a defensive coach that was given ever DB I ever wanted I don't care about interceptions because I have better than the 2006 Bears defense who can take away and score at will.
Flus is just clueless and had no idea what to do with the defense he was handed at the expense of an offense.

So much wrong in this singular posting. Lets look at it chronologically....

1) "I don't really care about winning at this point" -- at what point will you? Ever?
2) "Caleb LIKE FIELDS needs to get beaten to the point where he doesn't hold the ball forever" --- yes, that worked wonders for Fields in particular and most young QBs in general!
3) "Manning threw 575 times as a rookie" -- Manning also was much more polished than Caleb and was sacked only 3.6% of the time....Caleb is at 10.6% aka 'worst'!
4) "Harbaugh is ON RECORD as saying McCarthy was the best QB, so the Bears wouldn't have drafted Caleb" -- This is hysterical. McCarthy was Harbaugh's QB in college....what do you expect him to say? And what does "on record" mean...did Harbaugh trade up to draft McCarthy for the Chargers? Of course not. He's not an idiot. And of course the Bears and Harbaugh would have drafted Caleb...are you insinuating they would have drafted McCarthy with the #1 overall?!

1. Next year once we address DL and OL and Caleb builds off of this experience.

2. Fields never learned as even in Pitt his time to throw was over 3 seconds. Caleb has already shown signs he can get rid of the ball quicker.

3. Manning was so polished he threw 28 Ints while Caleb only has 5. Caleb is on pace for like 20 Ints and 7 Ints while Manning was at 26 TDs and 28 Ints. So no on balance Caleb has performed better in worse conditions than Manning.

4. Maybe it was just lip service or maybe that is what he actually believes. I am suggesting he may have taken him 1 or he may have traded down a bit and taken him. He didnt take him with the Chargers because Herbert is already proven. Duh! But let's make this simple, do you still want Harbaugh if in fact he was going to draft McCarthy?

Who is the assistant HC right now? If I were Brown, I'd lean heavily on the assistant HC to shoulder some of the load during these remaining 5 weeks and allow Brown maximal time with the offense, because that's really the only thing that matters right now. Wins and Losses don't. If Brown gets the HC job, it'll be because of how the QB looks.
I would think wins and losses will matter for TB's chances at getting the HC job. Maybe not the deciding factor but could be.

Here's a link to a full throttle defenses of why I thought Eberflus would be HoF coach:

You'll notice I responded to a post where I asked the poster to list what Flus had done prior to being hired rather than speculate about things he had no idea about.

I'm amazed there wasn't a picture of me sucking Flus' dick in that post.

So you admit it happened?
