So I'll be flying up with the wife and kids (8/10yrs old). They have never seen snow and we basically are going up to ice skate, sled, Navy Pier, and whatever else we can do in 4 days next week.

Anybody have some spots we can hit? I have done some research, but would like to hear what the locals think.

Go to the top of Willis Tower, there is an ice rink at the top of the Hancock Center, there is also a restaurant up there too, my mommy works there. Water Tower Place for the Wife, great shopping. Grand Lux Cafe is pretty good and cheap, great desserts. Ummmm..... Adler Planetarium is pretty cool as well. Just walk down Michigan Ave. You can probably call the Cubs and see if they are doing tours of Wrigley this time of year, they are relatively cheap tours, they do it at the Cell too, but I saw the Cubs in your fav teams, so just assuming, and obviously go to a Bulls game if possible!

This time of year is not conducive to tourism, but still plenty to do. As mentioned, eat at Lou Malnati's. I used to have their pizza shipped to me when residing in Broward. There is no pizza made in the entire state of Florida that compares.

The first thing you'll notice is how shitty the air smells here, you'll get used to it. Unlike south Florida, Chicago has an overabundance of industry and no Everglades to purify the filth.

Stay away from the west and south sides, there is ongoing civil war in those 2 areas and possibility of being struck by stray bullets exist.

LOL, enjoy your stay!

Well I'm originally from Chicago and visit every 5 or 6 yrs. Just found out it's going to rain now and not snow. LOL The city smells near the river in downtown, but so do the Canals here in Miami.

Definitely doing Lou Malnatti's (I've done Uno's and Gino's East)

Italian Beef I'll definitely do and a good Chicago Dog

Daughter going nuts about American Girl store.

I will be limited to one or 2 museum's. I've heard these so far

1) Adler Planeterium
2) Field Museum
3) Shedd Aquarium
4) Museum of Science and Industry

True, but the canals have more of a rotten algae type stench...still somewhat natural when compared to sulphur dioxide.

The museum choice is all about level of interest, all are good.

And there are good Chicago dogs near you, in fact it's the only one I ever found:

This is the second winter in a row we've seen little of winter from a meteorological end. I wouldn't run out buying hats and gloves, you may not even need them plus they're on sale up here.

How about doing something a little different, like a brewery tour?.

Goose Island was originally Baderbrau in Elmhurst IL, they marketed in Jewel foods for decades then expanded. Also, if you can away for a late night I highly recommend:

He plays his own club every January.

Hotdogopolis!! Found it on Google.

That's the one! I was down that way working this summer for a few months and I ate lunch there 1-2 times a week. Was only about a mile from the office.

If you got freetime from the kids, stop at Kelly's Pub on Webster and Sheffield. Shoot my name Ravi, I'm a legend there. They'll take care of you.
