If there is no 2011-12 season then that would mean that all of the free agents of the summer of 2011 (this past summer) and the summer of 2012 (next summer) would all become available in a massive free agency period.

Maybe the Bulls would actually be better off if there is no 2011-12 season. There would be a LOT of shooting guards available and they wouldn't demand as high of a price as the norm because (A) more players would be available and teams in pursuit of free agents out there will all know it, and (B) the new collective bargaining agreement is looking a lot like it is going to put some severe restrictions on players' salaries.

These are the relevant/big-time names that would be free agents next summer (if there is no season this year):

Unrestricted - Restricted - Player/Team/Early termination option

Kevin Garnett - Derrick Rose (R) - Dwight Howard (ETO)
Tim Duncan - Russell Westbrook (R) - Chris Paul (P)
Ray Allen - Kevin Love (R) - Deron Williams (P)
Steve Nash - Eric Gordon (R) - Andrew Bynum (T)
David West - Brook Lopez (R) - Gerald Wallace (P)
Nene Hilario - Roy Hibbert (R) - Elton Brand (ETO)
Tyson Chandler - O.J. Mayo (R) - Baron Davis (ETO)
Wilson Chandler - Michael Beasley (R) - Jameer Nelson (P)
Jamal Crawford - George Hill (R) - Ramon Sessions (P)
Arron Afflalo - Danilo Gallinari (R) - Mo Williams (P)
Jason Terry - JaVale McGee (R) - Brandon Bass (P)
Jason Kidd - Nicolas Batum (R) - Andres Nocioni (T)
Marc Gasol - D.J. Augustin (R) - Dahntay Jones (P)
Caron Butler - Landry Fields (R)
Raymond Felton - Robin Lopez (R)
Rodney Stuckey - J.J. Hickson (R)
Vince Carter - Rudy Fernandez (R)
Jeff Green - Courtney Lee (R)
Kris Humphries - Brandon Rush (R)
Chauncey Billups - Anthony Randolph (R)
Chris Kaman - Ryan Anderson (R)
Andre Miller - Sam Young (R)
Shannon Brown - Darrell Arthur (R)
Grant Hill - Jason Thompson (R)
Glen Davis - Bill Walker (R)

I would like the season to start as soon as possible.
I miss basketball
Why would anyone think the NbA is better off canceling a whole season regardless of a free agency list?
Your insane. :office:
But I give Rami props for taking the time to put the list together for our veiwing pleasure.

Very interesting Rami, all I know is when we start back up the free agency is going to be nuts. I loved how the NFL's recent off-season went down all in one week.

Lol, I said/made a thread saying something like this about the NFL lockout situation. People came back with, "well, not just the Bulls would get a whole lot better, so would other teams around the league."

IDK, really would like for DRose to have another star to play with. Preferably someone in thwir prime.

The thing about the Bulls is that they are going to NEED free agency and/or the draft to complete the puzzle with a great shooting guard because no team is going to be willing to trade them one knowing that is all that they need to become perennial title contenders.

Obviously, the teams with the most cap space will reap most of the benefits/rewards in this mass free agency (if it happens). The Bulls may not be able to sign any of the SG's that they desperately need towards the top of this list because, as Prope said, they will have about $52,000,000 dedicated to Rose+Boozer+Deng+Noah+Gibson (and that is assuming they let Asik+Watson+Korver+Brewer leave the team for nothing). And we have no idea if it will be a hard or soft cap. Nor do we have an idea how much that cap is going to be. Nor do we know if there will be a new ability for owners to void contracts.

Id be fine with missing the season, if, and only if....we got chance at DHoward. Thadbe the answer to all our problems. That might be reachin, wed have to make some room to clear cap, but w/e it be worth for a shot.

The only thing is Derrick Rose will tie up the rest of the Bulls money. Unless they can restructure the contract of Carlos Boozer.

I think the Bulls should seriously consider cutting Boozer if it will be allowed under the new CBA if he is unwilling to restructure his contract. But what I really think the Bulls should do is let Asik walk in RFA, not pick up Watson's contract, and void Korver and Brewer's contracts.

Yeah, the Bulls might just be continual first/second round outs until 2015 when this whole thing shakes out.

It depends to me on what Dwight Howard does, if he leaves the East or not, and if the Knicks get a PG. I honestly believe that the Bulls can be Eastern Conference finalists year in and year out as currently constructed.

Meh, and maybe get lucky and hit the Finals.....sure.

I just mean to say, they have some bad contracts, and Boozer is getting older. He's going to be tough to get off the books. I know everybody likes to think Noah is great, but he is an offensive liability. Deng has never just panned out to be the superstar that they thought he would be.

To me, those are serious issues when it comes to figuring out this roster going forward. Currently constructed, and just getting older, I can't really be as optimistic as you are.

I'm still wondering what the **** is going to happen with the draft if there's no season.

Besides New York and Miami, and whatever team has Dwight Howard, I think the Bulls fall into the top 3-8 in the NBA.

To me, if injuries keep piling for Boozer and Noah, I agree with the decline, I thought that those were more of freak injuries. And Deng does have an injury history as well.

As long as the Bulls can keep getting to the playoffs, they may break through, looking at Dallas this past season, they've made the playoffs for a better part of a decade, not really known as world beaters, but still got an NBA title, even though they weren't a #1 seed to be feared.

I think Indiana is going to be a player in the mix as well.

Yea, though I think we could use Asik in a trade

Hopefully once the smoke clears with this lockout the FO can work something reasonable out to where Boozer gets what he deserves & isn't overpaided.

I know he only has 1 season with the Bulls under his belt....but we can only expect him to get better. I hope he does or the FO restructures that contract....otherwise the will definitely anchor future worty additions to the team due to his heavy salary.

Is anyone really surprised that our current cap situation is bad? We all knew that once we signed Boozer then combine that with Noah's extension and we knew we would have no room to add anyone.
