How many games would this team win in today's NBA?

PG: Gary Payton(95-96)
SG: Alvin Robertson(85-86)
SF: Bruce Bowen(03-04)
PF: Dennis Rodman(90-91)
C: Ben Wallace(02-03)

6M: Nate McMillan(93-94)
7: Rick Fox(96-97)
8: Caldwell Jones(80-81)
9: Oliver Miller(92-93)
10: Elmore Smith(76-77)
11: Aaron McKie(04-05)
12: Brian Scalabrine(02-03) :troll:

HC: Scott Skiles

I wasn't going after their prime years, but in some cases, the primes did match up. I tried my best to mentally simulate a team that would actually be near the cap, and not just go willy-nilly with max/franchise players. Of course, you might see the theme here, it's all defense, with a few exceptions, where strictly grabbing a defensive-only player may not have been possible. And a few scrubs to make things interesting.

They'd definitely be a playoff team because of the defense. The offense would be pretty bad though compared to most other elite teams. I don't think they would get passed the 2nd round. Getting out of the first round would be tough.

I can't even come up with what their record could be and how many points they'd average. I think they'd allow less than 90 a game and they wouldn't average much more than 90. They probably wouldn't be any higher than the 5th seed. I think 6th-8th is more likely though.

Man that team has virtually no offense outside of Payton. But that's probably the best defensive team ever put on the floor with no real superstars, again out side of Payton.

Definitely they make the playoffs...but probably no higher than 4th seed on a good year. It'd be interesting to see how this team would fare against Miami and LA. They definitely have the defenders to have a shot, but could they score enough?

That team looks like it'd put up old school numbers of like 70-85 points both ways. Maybe...45-47 wins?

:smh:

Alvin Robertson is a legit scorer. IMO, one of the most under-rated players ever. I would take Robertson's scoring over Gary. Rick Fox, who should be a starter, but he's in Skiles doghouse, can also score.

I would be very scared to play this team, even though they aren't real scoring threats. The biggest issue with this team, is how the bench covers down, because there would be a lot of suspensions.

Kind of the point. :yep:

I know you like offensive production. I like defense, it's my favorite part of the game.

You're right about Robertson...I was thinking of another player for some reason. I guess I could see why you'd take him over Payton. He didn't score as much, but he was a bit more efficient I think. He also averaged quite a few less minutes over his career so he could've very well put up similar numbers to Payton given the same PT.

Fox is an ok scorer. He wouldn't get enough PT for it to really show though.

W/L: 57-25 on the high end, mainly because the toughest teams are more concentrated in the league.

Playoffs? If so, how far: Conference Finals. Skiles will melt-down on his players before he ever leads a team to an actual NBA Finals.

50-55 games. They'd basically be the Bulls. Built for really nice regular seasons. When they run into other teams with a couple top tier players in series..they fall.

Robertson is short, but he's long. A big reason why he played SG for most of his career. I have to look up his wingspan, but I would guess that he is longer than Wade or Westbrook. Also, prime Ben Wallace, short as he was for a center, is no joke. He was out-sized by Shaq, and still played just as well as any center on him, if not better. Those were good match-ups.

I think that team would be a first or second round exit most of the time. From 2001-2003 and 2007, that team could make the Finals if they played in the Eastern Conference.
