LOL. With a name like Blount, it was only a matter of time.

HAMILTON, Ohio (AP)—Former NBA player Corie Blount has pleaded guilty to two felony marijuana possession charges in a plea bargain that could land him in prison for up to 10 years.

In exchange for his plea, prosecutors on Wednesday dropped two marijuana trafficking charges against the 40-year-old former University of Cincinnati star.

Sentencing was set for May 13 in Butler County Common Pleas Court.

Blount was arrested Dec. 4 after sheriff’s deputies intercepted 11 pounds of marijuana sent to him at a relative’s home in southwest Ohio. They later searched Blount’s home and say they found another 18 pounds of marijuana.

Blount was a first-round draft pick by the Chicago Bulls in 1993. In an 11-year NBA career, he also played for the Lakers, Cleveland, Phoenix, Philadelphia and Toronto.

No one should ever go to jail because of weed IMO. I hope our country wakes up and legalizes it or at least decriminalize it.

Well you should go to jail for it while it's illegal when you are caught with an amount that equals large scale supplying which is, I believe, what happened with Blount.

I wouldn't be against legalization depending how it was done and what guidelines they put on it's use, but while it's illegal if you're a large scale dealer then you're going to get prison time if caught.

The 10 years thing is misleading though, it just says that's the maximum penalty, it's unlikely he serves anywhere near that.

Doughty Vegas Favorite for Norris over Keith

According to www.bodog.com, here are the odds for the Norris Trophy candidates.

Drew Doughty - 1:2

Duncan Keith - 11:4

Mike Green - 3:1

That makes Doughty the prohibitive favorite. Is anyone flying to Vegas so they can put down some money on Keith for me? I think he's way undervalued in this early assessment. I think the voting members will lean towards Keith figuring that Doughty has many more years to claim his stake to future Norris trophies.

The full list can be found here.

I dunno. I have a feeling Doughty will win it. Reporters seemed to go absolutely crazy over Doughty after the Olympics, even though he suffered through the same type of swoon Keith did post-Olympics. Plus, I saw several stories during the Finals from reporters saying they hadn't realized how good Keith was until they saw him play in person (which they apparently hadn't done prior to the playoffs/Finals). Bottom line, I think Keith should win, but I think Doughty will win.

Keith should win it. But since some of the voters haven't even seen him play, then the vote can go either way. How can these so called experts vote on stuff they don't even know about. They just log on to NHL.com and check out the stats and do their decision making from that? If so the Mike Green wins it.

Re: Doughty Vegas Favorite for Norris over Keith

So most writers haven't seen Keith play, but HAVE seen Doughty play? That makes no sense. Doughty plays for LA, so given that most NHL writers come from the eastern time zone, wouldn't that make it HARDER for them to see Doughty play on TV when compared to Keith? Not to mention that the Hawks were in first place all year long and the Kings were not. I could see if Doughty made the Olympic team while Keith did not, but that wasn't the case. Both players made the team and both were stellar in the games.

I cannot see the argument as to why Doughty is favored in this race. I know the vote takes place before the playoffs, but Keith played on a Cup winning team in a similar sized media market. Keith had 10 more points than Doughty (69 to 59) and a better plus/minus (+21 to +20). He also had more than two minutes more per game in ice time.

Hell, I don't think they saw Doughty play, either, except during the Olympics. I'm not saying it makes any kind of sense. Just that writers seemed to be buzzing about Doughty and about the notion that he might win the trophy as many times as Orr did. Writers don't always vote logically. All I'm saying is that I'm not surprised to see Doughty as the favorite in Vegas, and I won't be surprised if he wins.

You took the words out of my mouth... If the writers go by this illogical method, then Green wins by default.

Re: Doughty Vegas Favorite for Norris over Keith

One only needs to look at what Keith accomplished this year to know who the winner is. He put in 48 points at even strength.... Seriously? Major props to the first person that can tell me the last time a defenseman put up that many points at ES, because I looked for quite a while and could not find the answer. In the last 13 years, only two players have put up 40+. Keith, and Green, both this year. Green just hit 40, Keith, as I said, had 48.

Re: Doughty Vegas Favorite for Norris over Keith

Although bodog.com now has Doughty as a strong favorite to win it at -165, with Keith at +120, the website I like, TheGreek.com, has Keith as the favorite at -125, with Doughty at +140.

http://thegreek.com/sports/home.asp

So if you bet Keith at +120 (on BoDog) and Doughty at +140 (on TheGreek), you are guaranteed to make money (assuming Green doesn't win it).
