PSN has been a big joke, hopefully this is a wake-up call for them. All I know is that PSN members can pretty much bank on paying for their service with the next Playstation system. I'm sure they don't want to keep on being the second best behind X-Box Live in the future. PSN can never be as good as XBL unless they start making some cash from it. PSN+ hasn't caught on and never will until they stop being an online gaming charity.

Yep. The "you get what you pay for" saying is in full effect here. To be fair though, I remember in December '07 when I still owned a 360 Xbox Live was pretty much down for about 10 days. Hit or miss for most people, but not completely shut off like the PSN is now.

Update from Sony says that they're "re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure." That doesn't sound like an afternoons worth of work.

I started playing the Metal Gear Solid series early last week so I've been unaffected. But it sucks for those that bought SOCOM 4, Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat last week. I can't imagine what they're going through. Especially the SOCOM players.

EDIT: AND I remember getting a free game out of it when Live went haywire that winter. PS+ members might be getting something like that, even though they can already get free games. But I highly doubt Sony will do that for everybody.

They're going to have to strengthen their system, those hackers are smacking them around like some low budget website. That's good they're investing time into preventing outages in the future, at least, I'm assuming that'll be the result of what they're doing.

I really do feel for those who got all those awesome new games and can't play them online, talk about the worst timing for an outage. Especially SOCOM, the online experience is heavy in that game. It would piss me off if I was anticipating a game for such a long time and then the online features are unavailable.

Hopefully PSN gets restored soon. I need to rip some heads off some of my friends on MK for the PS3.

Hmm...I'm not sure. I would think it should update automatically. Did you make an account on the site or just clicked the "Gerar" button? Maybe making an account will tie it straight to your gamertag. Not sure.
