Fred Hoiberg: Chicago Bulls lack the “killer instinct”

The Chicago Bulls entered Monday's home game against the Phoenix Suns, fresh off a disappointing loss to the Charlotte Bobcats. But Monday's game won't make them feel much better. The Bulls blew a 16-point lead at the United Center and fell to the Phoenix Suns 103-10, dropping their record to 7-11 on the season. In both home losses, the Bulls led in the 4th quarter with chances to put the game away. On Saturday it was Nicolas Batum who scored 12 of his 24 points in the final quarter to doom the Bulls, an on Monday it was a shot from*Mirza Teletovic that sealed the deal:

There's a common trend in Bulls losses that's starting to be a big problem and it seems like head coach Fred Hoiberg has figured it out. Following the loss to Phoenix, Hoiberg stated that the Bulls lacked the "killer instinct" to close out games:https://twitter.com/CodyWesterlund/.../CodyWesterlund/status/674069877427183617He's right. *The Bulls seem to play down to their tempo in the fourth quarter and tend to relax a bit. It cost them another game and a shot to be No. 1 in the Eastern Conference again.Hoiberg and the Bulls have time to fix it as there's still 60-plus games left. But if*they can't, it's going to be a long and frustrating season in the Windy City.

surely it is true but it is too simple for a coach to say this, we could lack the killer instinct scoring more points though, i posted on the other thread the points we've scored in the last 5 games, it can't be only the lack of killer instinct

Emmanuel Mudiay and Steve Blake are the only PGs to have a worse TS% than Derrick Rose.

I am done defending this team's defense after tonight. The Heat and Pacers are both clearly better teams on both sides of the ball at this point. Cavs are obviously a given.

Well, NBA is making a ton more money now, thus more money to the players.

So Rose will probably still get a generous contract from his next team, but if we were compare it to the before era then Rose definitely isn't getting as much. That's all assuming this Derrick Rose is the one that keeps playing like that.

Agreed. Although, with the comments Derrick made before the season started, like being MVP again, and knowing he's great etc etc, I think he was/is hoping for a max contract or maybe slightly below that.....and if he keeps this up, that just isn't going to happen. He'll probably get slightly more than whatever the MLE will be if he doesn't improve. The good news for him is even if he sucks this entire season, he could potentially bounce back next season. The bad news for him is he could also get injured within that time.

Rose knows what has to be done. I don't really know what his mindset is out there no the court, no one does really.

Its just as each day goes by, more and more, Rose looks done with this team. Its kinda like Grant Hill and the Magic at this point. Rose won't flourish again until he's out of Chicago, if he does at all again.

Rose looks done with basketball. It's clear to me he no longer has the desire to be the best in the game. The competitive drive he used to have has all but disappeared, minus a couple matchups he probably has circled on the calendar. It looks like he's just going through the motions but his heart definitely doesn't look to be in the games anymore. Impossible to say for certain obviously, but from an outsider looking in, that's what I see. I'm not even sure a change of scenery would do him any good.
